I'm afraid I'm still stuck within the bounds of photorealism...but who knows, maybe one day I'll "achieve" hyper.

Love the expressions. It is absolutely adorable.
My only suggestions were the lack of any white highlights, it seems to be a whole lot of gray midtones. I read earlier that the picture made it rather sepia, so perhaps this is due to the picture as well. Photographing work can be as frustrating as working on it sometimes.
I feel like some portions of the texture of the pencil could be worked in a bit better as well- the left side of his face in particular. Everything else seems to mesh very well.
Beautiful piece. Love the emotion in it.

Thanks for the critique!
You're right about the highlights. While the photo definitely washed it out and took away what I had (there is a small amount), the majority of the picture is midtones. That's something I'm definitely keeping in mind nowadays.
I agree with you on the texture...while I've found that occasionally pencil texture can look like facial texture, that definitely wasn't the case here...it was my first drawing, and I just didn't know how to blend yet.
Again, thanks for the comment!

When I looked through later pieces in your gallery... you obviously grew and really took care of those things! I think its fabulous. You put really great emotion into them.

Because it made me smile on a day where smiles have been scarce:
(Only thing I think is missing is stronger highlights to add more contrast... Otherwise it looks great!)

Thanks for the fav! And yeah, I totally know what you mean about highlights...unfortunately, I see that in my other drawings too... I guess it's just something I do. I like to blame it on the photo. >.< Thanks again!

You got the expressions perfect, laughter is so hard to draw. And hands as well, what a challenge. It works perfectly. The WIP is good too, amazing to see the faces spring out of nothing!

Thanks! I appreciate the comment. Yeah, it sucks to do every detail you see in the picture and then look at the one on the computer and it's just like crap. I missed so much detail.

Nice image. The pencil work is excellent, but it's a great image to start with - love the cupped hands. Gives it a feeling of warmth, tenderness, and intimacy.

Awwww. Enjoy being in love - there's nothing quite like it. Time makes a relationship deeper, but there's nothing quite like the initialy intensity of being in love.
