Description Day 2 of 10 days of flowers to celebrate the start of spring! Today is a fuchsia, featuring a not-quite-mature fuchsia flower as its petals unfurl. It's a shrub with beautiful hanging flowers that typically come in purples, pinks, and off-white colors, but sometimes orange and red as well. In colder climates they are grown as annuals, but in warmer areas they act as perennials. There's over 100 recognized species of fuchsia plants, most of which are native to Central and South America. I'm not sure what variety this one is. Does anybody know?

This also marks my 150th Tuesday upload! Hooray! Now to start on 150 Wednesday uploads....

Such a beautiful flower. I have several fuschias myself, but they're currently overwintering in the garage, haha.
To be honest I don't recognize this variety, but there are so many of them. XD Do they do well in your area? I know they need lots of water though.

Thanks! Do you have photos of your fuschias when they are in bloom? I'm sure they're nice and cozy in your garage! Lucky flowers!

I don't personally grow fuschias (and it doesn't seem like any of my neighbors do either), but when I do see them at restaurants, wedding venues, and botanical gardens, they do seem to do well! Of course I'm sure those places have an appropriate landscape budget to ensure all their plants are well taken care of since their clients expect it, despite the water needs. Even if they get fined by the city for excessive water usage, it's probably worth it to them as they get more clients and better reviews for their beautiful gardens... Meanwhile the rest of us who get hefty fines for watering the lawn more than twice a week or wash the car just try avoiding growing things that take up too much water! XD (I think in some cities, watering is prohibited altogether!)

Yeah, I will try and see if I can send some of them in a mail to you soon! Haha, yup, they're just relaxxing out there. ^^

Seems like they're quite common  in your area despite their water needs.
Haha, if you have lots of exotic plants I'm guessing they're willing to take the risk to keep their plants going, haha. XD
I just hope you guys never got into trouble for watering!
