Description Day 6 of 10 days of flower photography to celebrate the start of spring! Today we have sakura (cherry blossom) trees. It typically only blossoms for a few days, and parks around the world hold festivals celebrating these beautiful pink and white trees. There's quite a bit of political contention over the origin of this tree between Japan and Korea, but let's just sit back and admire this lovely marker of spring!

Day 1: Pomponette English Daisies
Day 2: Fuchsia
Day 3: Heliconia Bihai
Day 4: Bleeding Hearts
Day 5: Calla Lily
Day 6: Sakura Blossoms
Day 7: Heartsease
Day 8: Raspberry Swirl Tea Roses
Day 9: White Freesia
Day 10: Orange Cassini Triumph Tulips

Thank you! It's always a treat to see these in bloom each year! I guess the brevity of their blooms add to their beauty though.

Hopefully one day there will be! These trees were planted just in the past few years ago at the park, so many still aren't mature yet. Maybe one day your area will have sakura trees too!

Ah, I love cherry blossoms, the heralds of spring, haha.
I've been to a sakura festival in Copenhagen, it was really awesome!

Thanks! The festival was really fun, minus a tree with sweaty-gym-elevator smelling flowers was in bloom simultaneously. XD Still, we loved it, especially when the wind blew because then the petals would start raining down, like a dramatic anime scene! The park just transforms when these are in bloom, and it's beautiful!

Wow, all the way to Copenhagen for the sakura festival! I saw some photos of that festival online, and it looks like a blast to attend! The one we have here is still very new (many of the trees are still tiny, some even shorter than I am) and not well established (more like a small, family community event). Those mature trees and demonstrations at the Copenhagen sakura festival look really cool! Do you have any photos? If so, I would love to see them!

I'm glad you had a great time!
Hahahaha, I wonder what kind of tree it was that smelled so horrible. XD

Well, I live in the most southern county of Sweden, so Copenhagen is only an hour away. XD
It was an amazing experience, I'll try to send you some pictures in a mail!

I looked up the tree at some point, though I can't quite recall what I put into the search engine to find it! Such a stinky tree, though it's also fairly common in parks here because of the many small, white flowers and hardiness of the tree. I guess some people can't smell it though- like female gingko trees smell awful, but some people will plant rows of them! XD

That's very close! Do you visit Copenhagen often?  And thanks again for sharing those photos of the sakura festival!

Ah, that's ok! It's not easy to remember everything.
If you want you can send me a picture of the leaves and flowers? Perhaps I'll recognize them. Seems to be many in your area.
Haha, so true! Here in Sweden mostly male gingko trees are planted in parks and such, since the females smell so bad. XD

Sometimes! We visited an amusement park in Denmark earlier this summer. It's so close that sometimes you don't consider it, if that makes any sense. XD

Most welcome, I'm glad you liked the pics!

Thanks! Although we went towards the end of the festival, it was fun seeing all these flowers in bloom! Last year, there were cosplayers taking photos with these, and it's extra cool when the wind blows and all the petals start falling, like those cheesy, romantic schoolgirl anime scenes haha! Bonus points for angry squirrels around the park...negative points because just so happened, there was also a tree that smelled like sweaty gym elevators in bloom during the festival...

Oh dear XD i'm actually wondering what kind of tree would have that smell now... And why XD lol!

That's a cool setup for cosplayers though I've never thought much about it until now owo courtesy of never going out enough to see these things. Hopefully I'll be able to go to one, one day though!

Maybe bugs find the scent most delightful and it helps with pollination! XD It does have a most curious scent!

I hope that you will be able to go to one as well! While seeing a bunch of sakura trees isn't particularly mindblowingly gorgeous (especially if say, you live in an area that has a lot of fruit trees or random flowering trees anyways, so it looks about the same), it is one of those things that is nice to catch in season since they're so popular in media and bloom for such a short time.

Probably attracts a lot of different flies too XD

I have the money for it, it's a matter of finding transportation and to convince my dad (ugh! Whyyy???) that I'll be safe while I'm there XD.

Thanks! It was great seeing them all in bloom in the park, plus when the wind blew, a lot of pretty petals came down like a classic anime scene.
