It's a small discussion board for WD fans. Not too many members at the moment, but the fandom is very old after all; older fandoms don't tend to be as active as new ones.
Anyways, I've never before managed to stumble on a Watership Down discussion board, so I decided to join the moment I saw the site. Would love to see more new people over there!

Watership Down characters, part 1/6: main cast.
I posted these in my Livejournal already, but I'll post them here too.
I did some cosmetic changes to the pictures, though; changed some details that bothered me.
Watching the Watership Down TV series, I got inspired to try to draw all the rabbits in it. I'm also a fan of the Watership Down movie which was done in 1978. The movie has a more realistic style and the series is more cartoony. Also, the first two seasons of the TV series have a consistent style, but in the third season the character designs of all the characters were changed drastically. I wanted to draw all possible designs for all the rabbits: the movie version, series1&2 design and series3 design.
So, in this picture, there's always three versions of the same bunny: the first image is the character's design from the Watership Down movie, the second one's the bunny's design from the first two seasons of the WSD TV series, and the third image is the design from season 3 of the series.
This is image 1/6, and it's featuring the main cast from the movie and the series.

they ruined the whole story by making the seires. true some important charrys and i think they explained about woundwort's background in the show thatwasn't in the film but other then that come on.. and blackberry a girl?..
the lineart is quite clean from the show but they should have stuck wtih the realisim imho. that and come one.. it wasn't meant to be for yuo childremn like 6-8 etc. it was a novel no?.. and the blood and figths were part of it as they are in a real life events for rabbits.

I tried to watch the TV series, but I couldn't get over Bigwig's weird design. >.< Made me LOL when they casted Blackberry as a DOE! Voilet was their only doe, and she was killed off by a hawk, thus they had to get does from that evil warren, um.... I forgot it's name. And how Pipkin was actually very small, not a young rabbit. Anyhow, great job with copying the disgin.

I never realized pipkin had a patch eye in the 3rd season, didnt notice that change(probably because i was blown away with how MUCH it had changed from season 2-3 in a whole sense, like bigwig too)

Back in my primary school days, I used to go nuts for Watership Down (whether it be the book, movie or TV show), though I seemed to find the movie quite freaky in some ways (I know they were trying to make it realistic, but I found it odd how all the rabbits looked like they all had the same expression), but I was only a kid back then. Sadly, for some reason, the 3rd series never made it here in the UK.

i can tell you why blackberry was changed to a girl. if u recall, violet was killed by the hawk in the movie. that was the only girl in the group. blackberry was turned to a girl so that violet didnt have to die in the series. blackberry is kind of a replacement for violet. i actually dont mind this because she ends up with campion which actually plays out pretty nicely

I'm a hug fan of the movie and I saw a few seasons of the TV series but I never saw the third one so I didn't realise how much they all changed! I have to say they changed Dandelion for the worse, his 1/2 form is waaay better than his boring 3rd form. They somehow look older in the third season.

The only thing I liked about the animated series was Bright Eyes as sung by Steven Gately. The rest was just condecending crap compared the the work of art that was the original movie. -_-;;

I like Hazel and Fiver second season(first still is one of the best) Pipkin Blackberry and Bigwig first season (Though I guess second season Bigwig looks oh kay too) and third season Dandelion(But first season rocks too)
