Subtlety? That's definitely not our strong point, from the get-go Goldsaber was established to be a thorn in the Empire's side, loud and audacious, a target impossible to ignore, founded by an Alderaanian, and later led by a Corellian Jedi, that would be yours truly, wherever we went the Empire certainly knew about us. That said, until the Battle of Endor we were primarily a buffer squadron, deploying to harass the Empire, and take heat away from our allies, after that battle however, things changed for us, there was much debate between Alliance high-command about disbanding Goldsaber and transferring our pilots to bolster various other squadrons, but as the Empire begun to fracture we started to take flight as a legitimate force, no longer merely a buffer, and I believed that, in an age where every Warlord or Moff was scrambling to get their hands on the Emperor's armory of Superweapons, Goldsaber was more relevant than it had ever been.

Aaand more Star Wars OC AU fun, this time featuring Quinn, Orchid, and rayn44 and SlingBlade87 's Jaeriel! ^_^

The story here is probably set about three years after the Battle of Endor, one of many reasons Quinn maintained Goldsaber Squadron after Endor was to pursue Kiri Starchaser, her handler and self-appointed Imperial Warlord (Post-Endor) Gideon Galgriev, and the Stealth Super Star Destroyer, Nightmare, and it's fleet, now at Gideon's command.

In Goldsaber tradition, Quinn and company come up with a plan to draw Gideon's forces out by offering up targets they cannot possibly pass up, and making noise across Imperial borders, leaving obvious patterns hinting at their next target to bait Gideon's forces out, each time chipping away at the enemy fleet and exhausting it's resources. This campaign lasts for a few years, until Kiri, growing increasingly frustrated with Quinn's hit and run attacks, not to mention even more unstable, seizes control of Gideon's fleet and leads a devastating counter offensive (for both sides), before finally her forces are exhausted and the near crippled Nightmare must retreat into hiding. It's probably several more years before Kiri and the Nightmare's location are finally discovered, and I have an interesting idea in which Quinn asks Jaeriel's sister Ay-lana for help in locating them, it's something I'm gonna talk to SlingBlade87 and rayn44 about.

Anyway, as for the actual action in the picture? Quinn and company are causing trouble for the Empire again, aren't they always? XD
They've likely struck a valuable Imperial network station, stealing intel for the New Republic, before fleeing on Swoop-Bikes. The S*SSD Nightmare (S* for Stealth) has responded to the intrusion by bombarding the station, however it's an empty gesture as Quinn and company are already well on their way away with plenty of information on the fracturing Imperial forces. During their daring escape they use the cover of a trench-like canyon only eleven meters wide, which meant that their Tie-Fighter pursuers could only ever chase them one fighter at a time, Quinn also had her Lightsaber and Jaeriel her Saberstaff, which allowed Quinn to cover Orchid and Jaeriel from the front, and Jaeriel to cover Quinn and Orchid from the rear. Orchid by the way riding with Quinn because Quinn'll be damned if her seventeen year old daughter is gonna be driving a vehicle as dangerous as a Swoop-Bike, heheh, even in the heat of a battle she's still got those protective mother moments!
Orchid is a part of this team though, she's not just sneaked after Quinn like when she was a kid, here she's making use of Quinn's home-made double blaster Twice the Charm, firing at enemies ahead.

I drew this yesterday and it was really fun, though I had really bad heartburn at the time, ugh... But it was really fun playing with both the perspective and the framing (This was actually the first to have the picture beyond the frame, the piece with Kiri's dark spirit was edited in post XD), I'm likely going to play more with framing like this in the future, cuz' I really like the effect. Swoop-Bikes and Speeder-Bikes (and such) are really cool vehicles, though I didn't really have any references for this, so I kinda' winged the the design a bit. I gave Quinn some riding goggles, I like her having different accessories, along side different outfit, and let's face it, goggles are always a great go-to accessory. It was really cool to draw Jaeriel suited up in her beskar'gam with her Saberstaff, sorry she's so small, here... By the way, if you can't tell, I LOVE drawing Executor class ships, and Tie-Fighters too, I have so many Tie-Fighter models at different sizes for reference, they're a wonderful resource. XD

Anyway I've typed for long enough (my fingers hurt...), I had fun with this, and I really hope ya'll enjoy it too, feedback is greatly appreciated!
