Description
Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Brian May and Roger Taylor. As far as I’m concerned, the greatest rock band ever. In fact, one of the best bands ever.
A pretty grand claim really, and it’s not one I’d made for many bands, but there was, and still is, something very special about Queen.
I think it’s probably that each member of the band forms an essential part of the whole, they all wrote at least one song each that hit number one.
Clearly there would be no Queen without Freddie Mercury. What can I say about this man that hasn’t already been said. He used his voice like an instrument, he was one of a kind and he will never be forgotten.
Brian May the ever long haired expert of the electric guitar. Something that isn’t really known for those who only listen to the Greatest Hits albums is that he has a great singing voice. I love his performance of ’39, it’s beautiful.
I love Roger Taylor’s voice, particularly during “I’m In Love With My Car”. Again it’s a shame that he isn’t more widely appreciated for what he can do with his voice. It’s always great to see a drummer get his chance to shine, and they all did.
Even John Deacon, bassist, who is a fascinating person in that he really had no desire to take the spotlight off his bandmates, but with their encouragements he wrote one of Queen’s most popular songs “Another One Bites the Dust”
Empty Spaces, what are we living for?
Abandoned places,
I guess we know the score.
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for?
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain in the pantomime
Hold the line,
Does anybody want to take it anymore?
The show must go on!
The show must go on!
Inside my heart is breaking
My makeup may be flaking,
But my smile still stays on

. Hell yes. One of the best rock bands of all time, and you've done a great job drawing them.

I always used to dislike Freddie for this nasty image that was flaunted around about his "extra-curricular activities" so to speak, but having learned more about him as a person I can fully appreciate the utter brilliance of him and the ultimate tragedy as well which gives his talent even more power.
If you catch my drift.

I think I do get what you're saying, I never had the problem myself, it wasn't until I got into my teens where I started listening to Queen more thoroughly, and by that point I did know he was gay and it didn't bother me, I didn't see any reason why it should... what he did in his private life wasn't a great concern, I was just amazed by him as a musician.

John Deacon is an excellent bassist, and I think he's one of the most underrated musicians of Queen's era.

although I'm not a Led Zeppelin fanatic, more a passing fan, I do have a interest in the whole era of music and being a nerd I know useless facts about all sorts of things that will never help me in life

Most awesome band ever Man I love the song Who wants to live forever one of the most beautiful songs written. Freddie's voice is so outstanding. It's wonderful you made a drawing to commemorate them. The musical We will rock you was really good, but it will never be as good as Freddie.

I was considering "Who Wants to Live Forever" as the alternate title to this. You're right, it is such a beautiful song and somewhat haunting listening to Freddie sing it.

Nice. Man Freddie is the only singer threw out my life i have never forgot and not a day goes by that i don't listen to at least one of their songs. You ever checked out youtube for their videos? Man I love It's A Hard Life seems kind of Red death to me. Funny thing is I love Queen before Phantom but so many of their songs kind of fit into the mood. Yah for the internet and helping me find more Queen, cause when i was young good luck other then finding tapes or records. thanks for making me smile.

Yeah, Youtube is brilliant for the vids. As fantastic as their music is, their music videos were also in a world of their own, they were so creative.
It's a Hard Life does have a very Phantom feel to it, doesn't it?
