I love this so much, Sam. I love the way it looks colored over the pencil shading. The image itself is a favorite for sure (Katie ) all by itself, but I love how rich and vivid and vibrant the colors are.

Thanks, darlin! I love black and white, and the way it turns the world into pure SHAPE, but there is something about certain images that are huge fun to explore with color... I like how this turned out, too, my friend!

It's beautiful! Great shading and i love the purple light, makes it more mysterious. Great expression too, I like the confidence in her look, like she knows exactly where she's leading us too.
Another great one!

Thanks Lorri (that's baby `snowmask in there, so you're right on the money about the expressiveness, adventurousness, and confidence)! I never feel like the piece has been properly submitted, until I get your feedback; that's a true fact.

Oh, is that her, I thought maybe it was, after I had commented...and it makes sense, now why I thought what I did. She is so expressive, her face tells it all...always...no matter the setting.
Beautiful work, you always manage to touch my heart.

thats wonderfully done! If you hadnt said so I would never have guessed it was colored in PS. The textues and shading/highlighting are so wonderfully done. *wonders where she is leading us to*

You're too kind, I can't get ANOTHER print of that picture of KT, and Now to get one with color, I'd be rude to do that!

My thoughts escaped mid-sentence (asthma can be really annoying sometimes). I'll try posting later when I remember what I was thinking.

This is fantastic. One thing about traditional art. Depth/texture is never lost. It is so grand.
I'm currently trying to paint 3 of my old drawings in Painter and PS, and am having a heck of a time getting texture/depth to them like you have here.

Thank you! I stumbled on to this method strictly by accident; if you want to know how I did it, I'll send you the longest note you've ever seen...

LadyZee1 In reply to SRaffa [2006-03-07 02:33:31 +0000 UTC]
Oh, awesome! That would be great! I tried leaving remnants of the drawings underneath, if you know what I mean, for texture, and it still looks bad.
So, yes, thank you very much. Take your time. I really appreciate it.

My assumption is that you're acquainted with working with layers and masks in Photoshop; if so, I think you're gonna like this a lot...

LadyZee1 In reply to SRaffa [2006-03-07 02:43:21 +0000 UTC]
Layers, yes. My Photoshop is Elements 2.0, which is to what I am accustomed. So, I'm not certain what you mean by masks, although I've seen it written and heard about it several times.
I have PS 7, but haven't tried to use it.
I appreciate any help at all, most certainly!

SRaffa In reply to LadyZee1 [2006-03-07 03:01:19 +0000 UTC]
Okay; first off, open up that PS 7, and then check into any of the web's tutorials on masks-- masks are as essential to the Photoshop experience as layers are...

EEK! I am intimidated. Everything is so different. But, I will get in there and get familiar with it.
Thank you for the encouragement.

Like most things, it's much more fun to DO it than to EXPLAIN it... If there's something useful in there you can adapt to fit your own terrific style, then it's my pleasure entirely!

I loved the monochrome version as well. This is exquisite. Stunningly colored. The highlights are wonderful. As for the composition itself, pure perfection. God-like details and shading. Superb perspective.
