Crazy out of focus pictures for the win!

Thanks for the encouragement, Lion King, of dA.

I keep punching away at all the new skills I'm trying to learn.

If I were to measure by views, faves and downloads, paintresseye is the better artist.

And she's not even very sociable. Although I am starting to give in and be my regular talkative self over there too.

I started out with
the name Mel,
thought of trying out
at least a somewhat anonymous
gender.

Are those white stripes or black stripes?

Then I was going to attempt to have a "quiet" personality. [she looks quiet, I don't who she is in the anomie or whatever world she lives]

I'm pretty much all me over there now. I have still kept a fairly conservative approach to my fave gallery,

for now.

So that's maybe going to be your main dA account over there?

No, this is much harder, what I do as melanie. [traditional]

Stock is for relaxation.

My traditional art is the main me. I have to get rested and strong enough to pick that back up.

I've been finding my center during all this exploring of other artists.

With all the Johnny Depp love in dalove land, I'm not surprised someone made it.

But you are so sharp to find it.

How do you do that?

Fun to be back at swapping them with you.

I made an ATC, then realized I was so, ummm...not proud, of the last things I had submitted. I had pulled that widget off my page. I forgot I'd done that.

I raced around trying to figure out what I could throw out there for a foursome.

Those ATC's are so tiny. But fun. Maybe I'll get back here with submissions now. I can do the ATC thingies until I stop losing all my traditional supplies every couple of days.

I need the organizers-TV people. I'd make a great show

I make a little progress every day, I have to keep telling myself. It is a little of the old "darkest before the dawn".

I hope I can find some of the pictures I took of the BEFORE... = my out of control junk.

Yep, that one took someone with, well, literature?...movie? background. A real Wonka enthusiast at least.

Fun that you had her right at the tip of your keys.

Characters from shared stories convey so much. Like art.

Even subliminally.

Very appealing world. The detail in that street seems like a universe. The smiling girl is so sweet too makes me think I would like to be on a dark road at night feeling so confident.
There is a time I would have put on the medieval torture to find out how you get those beautiful radiant colors

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SRaffa In reply to Sleetwealth [2010-01-04 03:22:43 +0000 UTC]

Like you'd ever have to get medieval on me!
It's the brand, Nita-- Golden brand acrylics have pigments in them that are comparable to those of gouache-- I've never seen acrylics as pretty as these before...
Thanks so much, pal!

Sleetwealth In reply to SRaffa [2010-01-04 04:39:23 +0000 UTC]

Bamboo under the nails will make you devulge those secrets!heh heh I used to obsessed with PreRaphelite glazing technique and Maxfeild Parrish blues. Never acheived it
I sucked with acrylics ,but I havent used the Goldens for 2d. I would normaly gripe acrylics arent as good as oils, but this changes my mind! They look every bit as good and perhaps a bit more vivid.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SRaffa In reply to Sleetwealth [2010-01-04 06:49:59 +0000 UTC]

I liked oils-- I stuck with them for about 6 years-- it's that drying time that's difficult for me; I'll try again with them at some point, I'm sure... How long since you had any desire to do some 2d work? Your paintings are some of the best I've ever seen...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sleetwealth In reply to SRaffa [2010-01-04 20:27:30 +0000 UTC]

The drying time was bad for me too and I learned to scrub paint really thin to compensate and just fatten up the details and highlights. I think about painting now and then, but its been since 2000 that I sat down seriously. some things have made me want to return to it. Stock resources for one is realy nice and having more of an outlet than I used to. The heat set oils and no fumes tempts me.
But its realy hard for me to even except praise for my paintings. I still feel a failure there.
