This is such magic, what with those rich purples and blues, the starry tarmac, Darragh's glow...
=notmystyle looks so uber-cool and elegant (her fingers are so long!!!) and Darragh fantastical yet full of some deep discernment and wisdom...

I always have to wonder; the title?

Just so beautiful, Sam.

Thanks, Gaby!
You ALWAYS have to wonder about my titles? I was stuck for one this time, that's for sure; Revolver refers to the wheels on the bike, and to the vinyl lps, and to one of the Beatles albums that played repeatedly while I worked on this, but I'm open to suggestions, my sister...

Wellll, I ALWAYS wonder at YOUR take on the title, how it links in your mind to what you've created and the people you've included there.
In my head, "Revolver" is a book by an author whose writing voice and style is true magic, so I immediately linked it like that...and also, a revolver is something of power that can change lives, the future...so I see the power of friendships and music and people... Who knows!

Oh my god, this looks better than I could ever have imagined, Sam. You've come so far along since the last time I've seen a WIP... the deep, jewel tones, the VIOLETS... such an excellent complement to Darragh's jade-like glow. Still can't get over how you made the asphalt look so neat, you sassy devil.

Congratulations love... each work of yours is better than the last

The atmosphere you've created with the algid colors and the placement of every element is just absurdly perfect--magically eerie and otherworldly...everything is in unbelievable harmony. You've captured the nuances in their expressions in such a way that this painting becomes transporting-- just pulls you into their world, their adventure, their journey. It echoes with notions of a secure freedom, with Darragh always by her side and the encompassing vinyl lps that guide her. Entrancingly cool work!

You were certainly flattering of my younger self's gaze and smile-- I've told you people said they looked devilish as in, "like the Devil", right? My tie is even tucked in a bit askew! like the photo! The shading of both our faces is perfect and I don't even know how you managed such accurate translucency in my wings-- did you use some incest's as a reference?
The landscape reminds me of Van Gogh for some reason. I think it might be the gravel of the road reminding me of pointillism, and the barrenness of the trees. Between that and the retro vinyls and ride, you've got some great juxtaposition.

I'm honoured that an old, national school photo of mine could, in some way, aid a Raffa with its true to form knowledge of subjects (books earned their significance, for me, when I was in national school). Thank you for letting me be part of this, Sam.

I totally dig Be Xi's shoes, too! I got a pair of gray, high topped Converse for Christmas.

Thanks for lending some of your ample spirit to this, lad; I've been meaning to replace my chucks ever since my feet pronated...

MerelyMarquis In reply to SRaffa [2009-12-28 04:56:22 +0000 UTC]

A true honour! Is that what you call them, over there? "Chucks"? I've only ever heard them called Converse, here, but that's colloquialisms, for ya.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SRaffa In reply to MerelyMarquis [2009-12-28 04:57:35 +0000 UTC]

All-Stars is good-- Chucks I think is kind of recent-- I always associate them with The Ramones...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MerelyMarquis In reply to SRaffa [2009-12-28 05:02:15 +0000 UTC]

I associate them with the Quins! Them and their MacBeths created this burning desire for a pair of my own but I didn't want puffy shoes so I went looking for something with the same high-topped design but less volume in the actual shoe, and Converse were what I found.

Aye sir-- I'm willing to bet our girls have worn out more than just a few-- and I really do love Sainthood, I gotta tell ya...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MerelyMarquis In reply to SRaffa [2009-12-28 05:18:00 +0000 UTC]

I think they're flat out wearing Converses in the album booklet. Those reds shoes aren't puffy, at all. I'll admit that the sound didn't connect to me, emotionally, like The Con's did but none of it is disagreeable. I think, too, that the lyrics are a poetic triumph, especially on Sara's part.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SRaffa In reply to MerelyMarquis [2009-12-28 05:22:50 +0000 UTC]

Sara tends to write my favorite ones (Walking With A Ghost, I Married, Call It Off...) but it's Tegan I'm completely in love with...
Ruby and I have talked about the peculiar phenomenon of the Quin songs-- stuff this poppy usually fades from my palate, but theirs are songs that go deeper with every listen; I'm already crazy about five or six songs on this, and I've only played it four times since yesterday (I walked 7 miles to get it for 9.99... )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MerelyMarquis In reply to SRaffa [2009-12-28 05:28:44 +0000 UTC]

Sara seems a bit hard to please at time, yes, but she's a helluva songwriter, for sure.
I was a bit like that when I first got into Regina Spektor. I started seeing the references in her lyrics as opposed to just thinking, this sounds really good. I love that first bit of electric guitar on "Arrow"; it's such a great way to open a record. I was about to say that your devotion would be sure to woo Tegan but I forgot she's a lesbian. >___>
