i've tried doing some marker work just to see how well i do im using Bristol paper which is kinda expensive. the card stock paper you mentioned similar to Bristol i'd like to find a cheaper grade to practice with so im not burning cash on expensive paper?

If your practicing, stay away from expensive paper. Use a card stock if need be use copy paper.

Thanks for the tutorial! I suck at using markers. >_< What paper do you use when you're coloring with markers? Whenever I use regular copy paper or even heavier construction paper, it turns out dull and bleeds and it looks really nasty.
Hoho... and do I detect an accent?

Maybe, in light of you saying it all the time, you should draw Boom Boom, you know, the X-man character. Just a thought.

Well, I generally avoid the peach marker, it's too orange and unnatural looking, but it really looks good now that it's dry!

I've been experimenting with the water colors but, Im still having trouble with picking out a suitable set of markers to draw with, recently I've seen a brand called bic. Its a pak of 24 with even a flesh toned marker, which is rare. What marker sets do yall suggest.

i guess that would make sense, like the layers in photoshop when digitally inking a pic, i always have the lineart ontop of the colors.

Yup, just no Multiply in marker coloring
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
almightybob42 In reply to StevenSanchez [2008-05-20 20:14:42 +0000 UTC]
nah, not even that. just select the black and use that ontop of everything, no need for the multiply, but i know what you're saying.
there's also no CTRL+Z in marker coloring, and you only have one shot.

San, do you have a problem with the markers picking up the pencil or picking up the colors from other markers?
I'm worried that if I color over pencils (or inks) that the marker will be dirty then when I need to color something else, the pencil will smear on it. (Is this making sense?)
So, how do you go about keeping your markers clean?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
StevenSanchez In reply to Jace-Mereel [2008-05-20 18:43:51 +0000 UTC]
I don't, I tend to have a sketchy feel to my artwork and the dirty marker adds to the characteristics of the piece. You can use a separate sheet of paper to rub as much off as you can, that's how I clean the, when I need the marker for a newer piece which needs to be clearer. Eventually it cleans off.
