pretty cool, do you recommend Β any brand of marker or any brand is fine?

Copic is the best if you want a really blendy look as it's got a better ink for blending and the handy brush nib. if you're just going for a graphic style with no blending almost any alcohol marker will do.

What kind of markers are you using? I tried searching on the net. But didn't really find anything.

In this one it lists which ones I used in the top box, it was mainly Tria and Copics, but I also use promarker, prismacolour, and touch markers.

There's so many details, this tutorial helped me a lot.
The white font almost killed my eyes though, although that may be because I didn't download it.
I'd fav this more than once, but that's not possible.

I had no idea markers could be layered like the technique you used for the background. That's really amazing! This tutorial is very well-done. How thoughtful of you to share your tips and tricks! Thanks!

This is a very nice tutorial, and I like that you suggested to do it your own way. I hate it when tutorials get to specific, or detailed.

it's interesting that you colored the whole bg in pink to start. I( would never have thought of that. I don't suppose these techniques would work wih Crayola? <

Marker-Guru In reply to superpower-pnut [2008-07-15 04:53:32 +0000 UTC]
Crayola markers you mean?
They are a water based marker, and i havent used water based much, but with experimentation, i'm sure a similar effect could be achieved. They dont tend to get as smooth as alcohol based markers.

oh, I wondered what made copics different. I imagine the bleed time is shorter in Crayola. However, since Copics here are listed at $5 ea, I'll practice your technique with cheap-O crays till I feel more comfortable. Thanks for the reply! appreciate it!

Markers are scary! I am the eraser queen. When I get up th nerve to use one, I want the finest line possible so if I make a mistake it's not so obvious. I also, on occasion, need to sign some very small artworks. I have found a micron 005. Do you know if that's the smallest tip available?

Marker-Guru In reply to Osa-Art-Farm [2007-10-22 18:34:23 +0000 UTC]
I am pretty sure thats the smallest in pens.

amazing tutorial jay! *sobs* just need myself some markers..... then obviously try them out.... then use the tutorial XD
anywoo, its good that you are self taught; means you get straight into your own style and preference, deciding for yourself how you want to do it rather then conforming to someone elses expectations.
