WOW!! *stares* Man I knew at first glance that this was done with Prismacolors as I've used them myself for years, and I really think if anything it makes me even more impressed with this picture because I understand the amount of work that must've gone into it! This is really a lovely artwork, girl... I recognize these characters from those sticker-commissions you did a while back and they turned out great in this traditional piece too! Did you do the outlines with the black pencil too or something else? Because it rather looks that way to me though it's a bit hard to be sure.

Aw, thank you so very much, it makes me happy to hear that. it was the first time I'd used prisma pencils to do a full background and everything, and I hope to do that again in the future. These two are a great pair, I definitely recommend checking out Wielder's gallery for bits of their story.

before colouring, I inked the characters with Faber-Castell PITT pens, my personal favourites. I didn't go over the ink lines again after I coloured this, though, so that the black line wouldn't be so stark.

Yeah I absolutely will check out more of their stuff one of these days... I've been SO busy with looking for work and all sorts of other personal things lately that I feel I hardly have time for anything anymore, oi. But, I really have found the characters very interesting any time I've seen you draw them so I'm sure I'd enjoy it.

And ahh okay, I see thanks for explaining! ^^ Well even though I'm not familiar with that particular brand of pen, in my experience it's usually extremely tough to ink over Prismacolors and have it come out looking good because the pencils are so waxy in nature they usually repel the ink. Of course I tend to color really hard too so maybe that has something to do with it, who knows. anyway though no matter what I think it was very successful, and I look forward to seeing more like it from you in the future, hopefully! ^^

Might I ask what kind of paper you used for this? I love how rich and smooth the color is, especially in the buildings.

Sure thing! It's brown recycled paper - you can get recycled-paper sketchbooks at pretty much any art store. I personally love the way it looks with colour pencil - I've got several other colour pencil pieces in my gallery that were also done on this kind of paper, had to try it after seeing other people do it. works a treat!

thanks so much!

Oh, thank you!

Indeed, it's enriching the color unlike normal paper does. I'll definitely have to try that.

surprisingly, it didn't take too long once I got into the groove! that's very sweet of you to say, thanks

no harm just playing around with maybe some of your own characters as guinea pigs! you can figure a lot out on your own.

8D i knowww
i used to use my pencils, even though they wernt watercolor, i would use an oil pen to smudge them on the paper. 83

well prismacolors aren't watercolour either, but they lay down some really nice thick vibrant colours. I won this set in a contest some years ago and they've served me well.
