Decided I was neglecting my own characters too much. And there's only a few days left before school starts
Anyway. Quick paint-up of my unicorn Shadow's head on a randomly crapped out background. Was just playing around and experimenting since I haven't done a real spontaneous digi-painting in a while, and Shaddie was a nice subject
Layers not used, just to prove to myself that I've still got it
EDIT: Before anyone else mentions that Shadow is a white unicorn and it's weird giving her a name like Shadow, let me state that there IS A STORY BEHIND THAT. She was born a dapple grey in the early morning, so her mother named her Dawnshadow, but because of subsequent events that I prefer not to disclose at present, she changed colour as she got older. There. Just because I name a character out of point things when I was a kid doesn't mean now I have to be normal and call her something like Starlight just because she's white. Come on. Black unicorn called Shadow? Bo-ring.
Sorry if I sound annoyed. I'm tired right now and I don't really like my characters being picked at. I apologise because I know you don't mean any harm by your comments but these characters are precious to me and it just kinda hit a nerve.

Way to go! I love ppl that dare to go with names of a completely different aspect. I guess that's what I was trying to say O.o I mean that, who cares if Shadow isn't dark? I have a character named Ice that isn't blue. So? Awesome job on this. From all the horses that I've seen you draw, I'd say you've come a really long way.

Aww, thanks. Although admittedly it was my younger self who named her that, at random, and with her colours white and silver too (I'm still not really sure why o.O).. but I never changed her, and it never even occurred to me that her name and appearance were incongruous until people started bringing it up. I guess I just got used to her that way xD

aww this is a gorgeous pic of shadow, i would just like to say i wish i could shade a horses face as good as you....n__n you have no definate lines brining out the bone and muscle except you still manage to create that image...

Heh, thanks! I just scribble really quick and make sure my lines are really soft.. I don't really like those pictures where every muscle and bone in the face is too defined actually. Makes it look like an anatomy book illustration in my opinion. Of course, there are some people who can do it that way and I'll like it.. but I don't prefer that look myself.
And as to your own abilities.. just keep practicing and you'll get somewhere for sure

Yeah, I was afraid I wasn't able to work without layers anymore! I always get nervous that I'm depending too much on my equipment and not on my own self so I was just trying to convince myself I still got it
