My good friend requested that I make her a lineart tutorial a long time ago, and I just remembered to do ust now. XD Sorry, Jenny. I hope the chibis make up for it.IN ORDER TO SEE THE TUTORIAL YOU MUST DOWNLOAD IT. Just wanted everyone to know. Lol
Anyway, the file is really long. So bear with it; I had a lot of information to put on there. If there's something that you're confused about, don't hesitate to ask!

I wanted to personally thank you for the aid in which your tutorial provided for me. I had been really getting frustrated with Photoshop being no one could explain the lineart to me for my art. But I've gotten the gist of it from your tutorial. However the only step I'm a bit confused on is the smoothing technique. Which tool is it? I'm using CS5, I'm not certain if that makes a difference or not. I would greatly appreciate more of your help.

This is very, very well done! I just have one question, I have Photoshop Elements 3.0 and I can't figure out how to make stroke paths. I'm starting to think this version doesn't have it... If you don't know than that's fine! I just desperately need to quench my addiction and do some digital inking! T^T

Well, I don't have Elements 3.0......but I don't see why it wouldn't have it...Could you note me with a screen shot of elements so I could look at your tools? I may be able to figure it out if I had something to look at.

Sorry, I didn't put anything there, because you make paths and adjust them with the same tools: the pen tool, selection arrow, and the direct selection arrow. It's just that you have to stroke the lines on your own, which can be adjusted by the size of your brush, and your choice of pressure. Whenever you're ready to stroke the path, you have to be either the pen tool, selection arrow, and the direct selection arrow, and just right click the canvas to select the stroke path option.

When you are on the brush tool, there's a brush tab in the upper right hand side. If you click that and then click on shape dynamics section, some options will pop up. One will be a box towards the top that is by Control: Click that, and then click the pen pressure box. Then, you can adjust how much pressure you use with the little bar just below it that you can move around.

can you please explain me how to stroke the pen line with the fade option, not the pen pressure.. i always do it with the pen pressure one but sometimes i need the fade one .. it's quite troublesome

Sure.
Fade, as you probably know, starts our thick and strong, and then as you keep moving along gets thinner and lighter. To adjust how much fade you give a brush, go to the brush tab on the upper right while in brush mode. There, click on the shape dynamics box to see some options. There's a box next to control (where the pen pressure option is also). Click that and you'll see the fade option. You can now do to things to affect your strength of fade. There's the minimun diameter bar below which can extend your brush. I really don't prefer this, because it ends thin and dark instead of really giving it the fade effect, but that is a matter of preference. The one I reccommend tweaking with is the bow to the right of the box where you selected fade. If you put in a number for say, a size 7 brush, of something like 200, you can see the effect in the preview box. It just depends on how much fade you want, but it really is a great option.
So then, once you've set the fade to whatever value you want, you can still trace things with the pen tool and then when stroking appling the simulate pressure. It will apply the fade option instead of the pen pressure.
If that doesn't help, I can send you a pic showing you the options and whatnot.

okay im having a problem with it.. it will not stroke the whole path.. with fade.. only the top of it.. :S the fade looks nice but its too short.

That's the thing with photoshop...even you somehow understodd everything about the program you still have to tweak around with different stuff. And I hardly understand the program at all. >.<

Hagi really is the sandbag of the show in more ways than one. Poor guy. And Saya....I'm just glad she's doing something. You know for the first 15 episodes she would stand there in fear and gasp a lot instead of slashing the monsters. Hagi would have to come in and make her go crazy to get anything done. But I love her just the same. XD

A pose tutorial? Well....I could...but the best way for me to learn is to practice with reference pictures. And then once I get the hang of that pose in different angles I try to do my own little thing. If I were ever to do one it wouldn't come for a really long time. I have like a million things I've started and haven't finished, plus summer school and work. So my attention is focused on that right now.

Aw man if you jumped to 44 you skipped almost the whole second half of the series! There's only like 50 episodes total I think. I think it's a one or two year time jump, though not much changes. XD Oh well. Kai is cuter probably cuz he got that nice jacket. And he acts more mature even if he still doesn't do much. Lol
