Description Well, as Halloween is coming up, I thought I would get a simple accessory tutorial up for you guys, that might help with your costume! They work wonderfully as a substitute (or cute accessory) for a school uniform, they also work for a kitty outfit, most Lolita outfits (please note: this might not be quite "in fashion" now, or readily accepted by the EGL community - do some research first so no one says anything :3), and stuff like that. Also, if you substitute a few measurements, they work wonderfully for arm warmers as well!

I had Illustrator open for working on those Sew Village characters, so I did this one in Illustrator - changed the uploaded image from a PNG to a JPG, hopefully, it looks nicer now...

Anywho, a simple tutorial for how I make my leg warmers. They're usually made of fleece or knit, but if you're making it out of a non-knit fabric, read the note at the top about adding extra.

I hope this helps you all out a bit! Happy (early) Halloween

Oh! And if you make something using one of my tutorials, could you pretty-please let me know, so I can it, and so others can see them? Pleeeeeeeeease?

Hehe, not a problem! I'm so glad to be of help - that sounds really friggin' cool!! I want to see pcitures when you're done with it, please, because I'm addicted to the Steampunk/Arcanepunk idea, and an Alice would kick butt ( my wedding is somewhat Steampunk styled even )

I cut the fabric last night. My caf is *cough18cough* and my knee is 17 the lenght of my leg from mid foot to mid knee is 19. And it can reach around all the way. Would you advice still putting on the side flap-things?
P.s. it's probley going to look more like a Steampunk Item colletor of fictional items. Examples: the One Ring, Drangon scale, Roc's Egg, Queen of Hearts, ect. I'm making a list.

It's really a personal thing - I like really full leg warmers (my calf is the same size, so I know the feeling - can you ever find high dressy boots that fit? Cuz I can't XP) then add the flaps, but if you don't need/want them, don't bother with 'em. Or, you can make them smaller, too

That is such a fantastic idea, though! I like it, and can't wait to see how it all comes together

*Hug* Thanks.. I don't think I've ever tryed to find them. I'm 5'3 1/2 and if the sole of my shoes arn't on the ground I trip.

I already have the One Ring, A Match, A Tailors Measure, and a Dragon scale.

You're not kidding! And, they shouldn't take too long to do, so you could wear them out to dinner or something fun right after you make them

GdorChaser13 In reply to taeliac [2008-10-22 20:47:04 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I should make them with a flannel, or like, warm material, wear them for winter. Mmm warm ankles

I really wanted these legwarmers from SockDreams.com and I had them in my shopping cart but by the time I got around to buying them the next day after checking on my credit they were out of stock of that color and i didn't like the other ones.
So thanks for the tutorial just on time!

Oooh! Those are knit one's, right?

I should ask my mother to write a knitting tutorial on them, she's made a few pairs for me a long time ago... hrm...

Anywho! I'm happy to be of help!! These may be a bit more flared than those are, but you can simply cut down the amount you add in Step 2

taeliac In reply to katronmaster [2008-10-22 19:39:15 +0000 UTC]

They're so warm and comfy, they're worth it! Plus, if you live somewhere cold, like I do, you can wear more skirts in the winter

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

katronmaster In reply to taeliac [2008-10-22 20:23:00 +0000 UTC]

That was exactly my reason for wanting to make some, all I wear are skirts (I don't own pants) and it's starting to get nippy. Thanks again for the pattern, hon! I love it when you post these.

I'm so happy it's not just me - I wear pants sometimes, but I much prefer skirts Most people look at me oddly, though, when I say that...

Aww! If you were close, I'd borrow you mine!

I guess you could hand sew them, if you were really, really driven to make a pair But, it would be such a pain, methinks
