Sorry for the large file!

Last week I decided I wanted to make a tutorial. Last Saturday, 7 am, I was half-sleep cooking french toast and thought it would make a great tutorial. Later that day I discovered it doesn't.

French toast may be too easy to deserve a tutorial, but well I already had the pictures... and I couldn't find another one in DA, so mine is already the better french toast tutorial, ha! (I hope that didn't sound as lame as it did in my head).

Bleh, well at least I got over the first tutorial issue. It was good practice and my next tutorials will be better, I promise (not that it will be hard to get better than this...).

Awesome tips from awesome people:

I have another way of doing this (my grandma's recipe): bread is better if it's day old, beat the eggs and add a pich of salt, warm up the milk in another bowl (I use microwave); dip the bread first in milk and roll it with a fork (but be quick ) and then dip the bread in eggs. Everything else is like in your tutorial
It is a great way to use leftover bread (it can be a day or two old), and it's soft and moist by ~leilani-m

Give it a try sometime, instead of adding sugar etc cook it all up the give it a light salting nothing else. Very different taste! by ~Sharpk

the best way to make french toast is with leftover challah bread. it sucks in alot more juices ^^ add some cinamon, milk, and eggs by ~SoUrLeMoNaDexx

If you like sweet-salty combination of flavours you can and just a tad more salt to the eggs - so the outside will be a bit salty, and the inside will be a bit sweet because of milk

Thanks for this . My little brother really wanted some french toast and you really made this easy for me lol. I added a little cinnamon and vanilla extract. Didn't make a huge difference but they were still good anyway. Thanks again !

Weird, I allways thought French toast was something completely different. In the North of England we call that Eggy Bread and is more of a savoury thing (Tomato ketchup nom nom)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to tyney123 [2010-04-26 03:52:14 +0000 UTC]

That's very interesting, tomato ketchup! I swear that would have never crossed my mind. I must confess I'm a bit reluctant to try it because I think of French toast as a sweet delight, not savory, but it does make sense... I feel like you've opened my world a bit thank you for sharing!

I just finished trying your tutorial. I made french toast for my brunch (since i got up a bit too late for breakfast). I tried the various toppings you suggested and found each one to be delicious in their own ways. You have a very simple and yummy tutorial! I'm very glad that I favorited it now ^w^
