I don't care how harsh I sound. I'm tired of people bashing us fans who want project 2017 to be serious because "what? you want anther Shadow the edge hog?"No, we want a game that has a serious story, isn't sonic running around in a rip off of a mario world, and actually feels like the world is in danger. I don't mean to rant here but I really do hate people like I mentioned above who are going to wine about sonic now being serious. You had a good 3 or 4 games with Sonic joking around and what not, now let him put his big boy pants on and find himself in a serious situation, sort of like in SATAM or SA2.
And yes, I am serious about the leaving the fandom part. You're voice has been heard long enough by sega, now please let us fans who want Sonic to become something have our turn. You don't like it? Leave, or shut the hell up.
Even with Classic Sonic in the game I have hopes for project 2017, though it may be the straw that breaks the camels back if the game let's me down.

Ho boy, the mindset 'The World that So Sweet it Tastes like Diabetes' is so ingrained in 'nostalgic' fanboys then and now, so anytime when a military organization defending a city from invading alien forces or a villain getting shit done, that would be called 'shitty edgelord fanfiction' by die-hard nostalgiac people who insist a 'world bright with singing animals and blooming flowers everywhere'.
TL;DR: Nostalwhiners, be tolerate to more serious theme instead always insist 'so happy world no darkness exist' to be the main theme of the series.

I agree.
So far there's a lot going for the game. I only have two negative points.
1. When the trailer said "Sometimes. . . even a hero needs help!" And. . . we all dropped our Jaws asking "WHO!?!? Whow's gonna help Sonic? Shadow? Knuckles? Blaze? 
Like. . yeah, I guess a hero does need help from HIMSELF. *HACK-COUGH COUGH" Goodness. . . why in the world would they ever word it that way? Yeesh.
I don't hate Classic Sonic, he was fun in Generations! I'm just. . . leery of him being a major character in this game when. . . well Generations was 5 years ago. And. . . this game appears to be the only serious plot Sonic game we've had since Rivals 2. It will still likely be good, but. . . it could be a bad omen.
2. When Knuckles Amy and some of the Chaotix were confirmed as NPCs.
Which may as well mean they aren't playable. >_> But. . . maybe I'm gravely mistaken. I sure HOPE that Knuckles and other characters can be played (Tails anyone!?) But who knows. . . Sega is half asleep it seems. And yet they still pull through and make some neat stuff for Sonic like Generations. I just wish it was consistent. . .
On a good note, in the trailer, I saw what appeared to be two defense towers shooting at the giant Egg Robots! Does that mean. . . G.U.N. is in this game and is actually fighting back? If so. . . that's great, and it means that maybe we'll even see Shadow appear! Shadow himself isn't needed for a great game. With the right writer we could have just as awesome stories about Knuckles, Or Metal Sonic as side characters. Even Sonic himself can be used and developed well as shown in Sonic Battle and the Storybook games. I hope they know what they're doing.
Ken Pontac- writer for Sonic Colors and Lost world has been replaced as the writer. In fact, Sega has been keeping a secret who's writing the current game. It looks like things may finally be up for the Sonic series, but I'm still holding my breath. I'm holding tight, and constantly hoping. If it turns out as good as Generations I. . . I might satisfied enough. *sigh* >_> But I think we can still expect something better!

I'm actually excited for it to bring back the balance between light-hearted and serious. but some of the skepticism I've heard from some fans is that they fear a repeat of sonic 06 or Shth that tried too hard to be serious but fell flat in execution.

Seriously I'm not the one to be like this but I have to agree go the fuck on they've listened to those guys to the point where Sonic even knows he's a fucking joke in his OWN fictional universe. These people will gleefully want Classic Sonic to be in everything and his presents undermines the very essence of nostalgic but will cry when Sonic tries to take himself seriously. I also hate the arguement of how people aren't suppose to take Sonic seriously when they take other fiction seriously.Ā

Hell Generations too and it even goes back to Sonic 4 if you squint hard enough. After Mania there's NO other direction Sonic can go with being a nostalgia whore.Ā

and it's probably because of the said people that it's like this way...Kind of makes me wish they would be nostalgic about Sonic adventure. Yes I know the game has flaws, but at the same time at least the series didn't force us to play as Sonic, and the characters we got to play as had different controls.

Nah man we are in the era where people have to be overly nostalgic about the 80s and 90s all the time and you have to abide by there nostalgia. Not knowing that their nostalgia should be loved in increments and not pushed into the spotlight all the time. About the Sonic Adventure thing I'd go ahead and tell you that won't ever happen. The Classists are the easiest fans to please as it is clear all they want is just to see Classic Sonic and that's be fine.

Why can't these classic idiots be wanting to see things like a SATAM game and what not? It bothers me how they have to shove it down their throats and make everyone else suffer, then when IGN makes fun of the fans for good reason they cry victim.

I hate the arguement that I've went over before of Sega is finally listening to the fans because like I said it comes from people who don't know a fucking thing about the series and still think that every released game has been on the level of Sonic 06 and thanks to Rise of Lyric they can have thie prejudice reconfirmed. These guys need to wake up and realize Mania is nothing new the franchise but rather a cry for a desperate remodeling that the franchise needs. Sega is just too scared to sale Sonic now.Ā

Yeah they don't want Sonic's friends and now people are tired of seeing just Sonic playable. They say sonic doesn't need to be taken seriously and we go from one extreme to another extreme to where even in his own fictional universe he's utterly taking the piss out of himself. People are saying Sonic should go back to the way Sonic was and he did..........and now he can't get out of his past. Again how are you to look towards the future if you glorify your past.Ā

Exactly and it really annoys me. I feel like things like the comic cast/ characters like mighty and ray not disappearing forever wouldn't happen if people made a big stink out of a problem that wasn't a problem in the 1st place.
