On my last meme-rant post, GrandMetroViper made up a good point. His comment is really long but for those who didn't see it, summing it up he says that Sonic is turning himself into a meme, and the people who criticize fans for taking him "to seriously" isn't helping. And you know what, I agree 100%.This is why I don't see things like SATAM coming back or anything that involves the freedom fighters, our whole fan base wants to make memes about Sonic instead of take him with a hint of seriousness, or be allowed to. This is also why I have a problem with Matt once begin in Sega as an intern, as I feel he had a hand in condoning and allowing this behavior.
I know it's too early to say, but I really hope whatever project 2017 is, it breaks this chain of non seriousness, cause if it doesn't Sega mind as well make games like bigs big meme adventure 3 or Sanic the hedgehog 1...

Because it's cool to laugh at Sonic and to not take him seriously to bad when shit hit the fans a lot of "causal" take Video game characters very seriously to the same degree as a sport team winning the play off or which book is more interesting.Β

so here's a little bit of a rated R story for you so be warned before reading this.
I've been trackng and talking to a certain artist named Dreamcastzx1. His not too known but in the more......ahem....adult side of Sonic he's known for his SEVERE hate for Tails because apparently he didn't like seeing Tails the most popular character and in the "adult" universe being shipped with every character. He commissions and actively gets people to pay him or he pays them to draw artwork of cuckolding Tails with Sonic by having him screw Sonic characters in front of Tails. He does a lot of cheesecake artwork but he does do some ok artwork that I enjoyed but I couldn't stand the fact that most of his gallery was filling up with this Tails hate stroking he kept doing so I asked him why he does this so frequently and he said what I said above. He does it because he doesn't like the character. As a fellow artist I tried to say he's basically wasting his talent on trying to attack a character and trying to negate the amount of other Tails art with his art cucking the character. The conversation somehow turned into an arguement ending up with this said by another personΒ

You Sonic fans only see your Sonic Heroes like real characters with a defined personnality. We, artist, see them as actors and bunch of pixels ! Being canon is not important at all.

This baffled me because I was making the point that people all the sudden started attack me in that section (withheld because it links to adult content) for asking questions to the artist who frankly I'm going to say is an utter asshole. I was saying that he's uploading his content on a public platform and therefore has every right to receive criticism if people are willing to give to him but another thing I've learned is that he has a lot of yesmen accounts as followers and backers on patreon. So why am I ranting about this?////because the arguement didn't go full circle it went to blatantly attacking the fans to prove a point and basically what this guy said is that "you guys take your characters too seriously" most of us in that section were talking about the artist and his shady practices to ride coat tails off other people in order to get money.Β
TL;DR It doesn't matter what part of the fandom you look people will STILL find a way to insult you for trying to take the characters seriously even if you know the characters can be used whenever they want in any form. People will insult you for trying to take the characters seriously even in an out of canon context so I guess that means these "actors" as he says can't be taken seriously in fan fiction.

He's to busy getting catered to by the people who give him money and shield him from criticism, i tried to commission Sonic getting his Tails treatment even offered to give him money on his Patreon and he refused to do it. I wanted to see how far into this gimmick he really was.

I didn't mean to give the mods s hard time but as time passed I felt they (specifically shadow) were acting more aggressive and rude over things that shouldn't have been. It's a fan project not your job...

They were passionate but that's not how fans should act. If you like doing something you should let other people enjoy the experience. I see this problem way too often on forums the community collapses in on itself and becomes an anarchic chaos with Totalitarian leaders prowls the forums every now and again. You give some of these people a little power over people and they'll fuck a forum into the ground.Β

Exactly! Like I don't mean to bash the project but I have a problem when the mods make a name change without even asking the rest of the forum what their opinion on it is.
Shadow is also very egotistical, thinking he has a right to power just because him and his buddies "saved the project".

I've dealt with people like him and his buddies alot. I may not enjoy the practices and oddities Penders has be-felled on the comics but everyone should be able to allowed to say their peace if need be. They do whatever they want on these places and go uncontested it takes one brave soul to say a single thing out of the ordinary (I'm usually the cog out of the entire machine no longer wanting to be a part of the problem). They get defensive and in worst cases the patrons of the forum will turn into a personal army because how dare you question the authority of a superior. I've called some people out on flagging users on forums for no reason and they try and get me banned I go "No need I'm leaving" my black nerdy ass isn't going to give you anymore authority over me than you already think of yourself.Β

People hype them up enough and they become the senior member it is ALWAYS a senior memeber. So they feel they are fit enough ti run things which translates to most of the time 40% moderating the place and weeding out troll accounts and cleaning up the forums and 60% bossing people around because the logical of "I'm here longer than you so I know more than you"
