With the release of Pokemon Black and White about a week and a half ago (and playing White nonstop) i've been wanting to draw more 5th generation Pokemon in a realistic style. So here's one I did of one of my new favorites, Archeops. I just love the design of this little guy and how he resembles the real animal archeopteryx. I decided to draw it hunting a Venipede (Don't worry, no Venipedes were harmed in the making of this drawing) which is another one of my new favorites. A Venipede actually makes a lot of sense for a prehistoric critter to be hunting--centipedes and similar creatures are *really* old (as in, "some of the first land animals" old.)

Very amazing. It looks so life like,almost like you went back in time to get the picture itself. Your use of colour is great and the back round brings out the poke'mon.

Hopefully this comment will send. Arcehops is deffo one of favourites, which is weird cause I thought IΒ΄d hate all the new generation pokemon, what which being born 1989 and having all my childhood be the originals. I am actually looking at what one to get as a tattoo, its a bit freaky isnt it but I adore pokemon and if it were made to look like something more realistic...well thatΒ΄s a bonus. Fantastic work, will check out the other art work you do!

I named mine "Archy". Perhaps not whole orginal, but only beause I can't scream 'Go Archeopteryx' at my freinds. This little dude flew me all over Univa at least 10 times and back, and it was this bugger who held the ever important amulet coin and beat Cynthia's Spiritomb that spamed double team with Arial Ace.

Best Archeops on the web, hands down! This is amazing! Could you explain step-by-step on how you made this particular one?

Thanks! First I sketched it out on printer paper and with a mechanical pencil, scanned it to my computer, then used Adobe Photoshop CS4 to color, shade, highlight, and detail it.

Sounds simple enough but the details in this piece say otherwise. Did you stipple the trees? Did you add any environmental details (ex.creases in the branch) through Photoshop or through the initial drawing?
Sorry if I'm being pushy with all these questions but your art is the EXACT kind of art I'm into and I want to make stuff just like it.

I added all the little details through Photoshop, but I hand drew it. I just used a few other brushes.

I always thought they resembled microraptor gui a bit more (feathered legs and all) however you captured the texture, the reptilian face, everything!
The only "critique" I could give is that the feathers covering its arms look a bit flat.
And not even that much.

Out of the two fossils you can choose from I like this one the best. A bit more colorful and the design is better.
