Each Drawing varies in side though they are no larger than 7 x 7Pencil on Paper
*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work building up (hopefully) to having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now **
This is another chapter I got carried away with the number of vignette drawings I did for it. But it was the introduction of so many of the Hogwarts Professors. So I did a drawing for each one that was mentioned in the chapter. There's not much else to say about them - there are some I like better than others, while I don't really dislike any of them. There's the last on of Harry looking at the clipping from the Daily Prophet... I don't see that one for any more or less than the "filler" piece it is.
Fun Fact: You'll notice the "effect" I used for McGonagle transfiguring the desk into the pig is similar to the effect I used back in Chapter 1 - where McGonagle herself is transforming from the cat. I just figured being an animagus is using similar magic to transfiguration, so the "effect" should be the same. Just my little effort at a continuous "look" and "feel" to the series. Truth be told, I sort of regret it... it's a little too "cartoony" and worry it'll detract in later illustrations. But I'm stuck with it now, so I'll have to make it work

What I enjoy about your art is that your vision of the characters is completely independant from the actors who play them in the movies. I would have never imagined Snape with facial hair, but it works! And finally, Ron can be taller than Harry (I enjoyed the gesticulations in the background of your first vignettes). Your hut is so much nicer too.
Is the name tags system something that you came up with?

I take that as a huge compliment! I will go out of my way not to be like the movies. Too many people use them as the definitive versions of the look of the stories, but in my opinion, there is too much wrong with the movies to do that. Don't get me wrong, the movies are great in their own way, but it is separate from the books. That said, sometimes I sincerely believe the movies get something right and will go along with them, but that more a matter of coincidence than relying on them. My goal is to be as faithful to the books as possible first and foremost. I add my own touches after - as long as they don't conflict with the prior goal. Snape probably isn't supposed to have facial hair - but it doesn't say that he doesn't have it... so I get away with adding it. For what it's worth, it is how I pictured him when reading the stories.
HA! You noticed the name tags I don't think anyone has brought that up before. It does say in the first book that the robes are to have name tags - I believe that was supposed to mean on the inside, but I thought it'd be cute to put them on the outside. My thought process was, it helps the teachers know who everyone is, even if a student isn't in one of their classes.
