SpongeBob season 4 is, in many ways, the perfect continuation of premovie SpongeBob...for the first 26 segments. Immediately after the show sinks to an average of 7s and 8s, with even a new series low, a 4, thrown in.

The animation in this season is sex. It's perfect, the perfect style, the perfect animation quality, everything. I love the way this season looks and moves. It adopts everything that was great about the movie and the past seasons visually and adapts it into television flawlessly.

There is a lot more hawaiian music in season 4 compared to season 3, which is a huge plus. I very much so like Hawaiian music in SpongeBob. This season is the end for a lot of classic tracks, unfortunately. There's a lot more sound effects in general, returning back to that cartoony/Foley mix from season 1. Lots of emphasis on water sounds as well.

So overall, for the most part, season 4 is a perfect continuation from season 3 and very much so carries the momentum. But then around the back half, the season winds down a bit, producing some below average (for SpongeBob, so far, anyway) episodes; including the worst of the show so far.
