Description ...and the renaissance is over before it even truly got to start. From a 9 to a 7, Season 10 really drops the ball. Not to say it doesn't have its high points, but, geez.

The writing of this season really takes a hit compared to 9B. Many of the fresh talent from 9B already left the show at this point, which is a shame. Their touch would have greatly helped this season out. As it stands, the writing is still sharp a lot of the time, but its dipping down into losing its identity a lot of times. Whirly Brains, for example, solely exists to parody drones with no extra nautical nonsense besides the out of place use of brain drones. This point will be brought up a lot in my season 11 review, so keep it fresh in your head.

That animation, whoo boy. So here's the thing. In season 10, the animation is good. The style; good. The use of that style? Ehhhhhhh. Certain episodes just look off compared to past seasons, especially the Brian Morante boarded ones where SpongeBob's eyes are abnormally small and he has eyebrows. This is nothing compared to the later seasons in this so-called renaissance, so just buckle down and wait until we get to that.

Music editing is still the same for the majority of the season, but near the end of production, CPM split from APM, so those can't be used anymore, so season 10 is technically the formal death of almost all the Krusty Krab tracks despite not playing since like, season 6. Cartoon track spam is even more of an issue here.

So, with this out of the way, I can now safely say that season 6 > season 10 by just a little bit. Season 6 has way more highs but also more lows. But at the end of the day, the highs outweigh the lows. Tune in next time where I cover season 11. Neptune knows how that will pan out.
