Description
- You were saying ? said the woman, laughing, as she was coming ahead of the two friends.Gillian could now see her. As Rebecca earlier, she had a shock when she realised that all the woman had for limbs was a left thigh stump, exactly like herself, and that, even more extraordinary, she was hopping expertly on a single running blade fitted on that stump, with nothing else to support her or help her keep upright.
She had not been mocking her. She had been boasting, and she had every right to.

A couple of seconds later...
This is like watching a movie! Again, the dumbfounded expression on Gillian's face is just perfect!
You've got Deborah's action pose just right, and that little half-smile she's giving as she looks back over her shoulder is great! It's also really apparent how difficult it would be for her to 'stop and chat' - once she's got momentum going!
Perfect surroundings and render too. How great it would be to live in a world where such things were possible... even if 'improbable'!Β

It took me time to find the proper settings for Gillians expression. And Deborah's pose. But I had a very precise idea on how I wanted them.
You're absolutely right about her momentum. You anticipated what I make her say in the next picture !
It's HowieFarkes you have to credit for the surroundings. Besides a few adaptations I made to make it work with the render engine I'm using, it's entirely his work.
I would love to live there too ...

Haha Gillian is calculating the odds of meeting another quadruple on the road in her head right now, she must have felt so justified in her outburst too ; )

By what Gillian heard at that time the offending woman seemed to be running, so it was unthinkable that that person could be even remotely as physically challenged as her. Her outburst was perfectly justified. Deborah knew that, and that's the reaction she wanted to trigger, and that's why she's laughing. Gillian will understand that in the next picture.
About calculating ... she is not doing that right now ... but she will be. I suppose the title gave you a clue, but it's an excellent guess !
I won't say more now (spoiler ). And something else will happen before.

Thank you !
This story is not finished, and you'll see her again ... but with about the same appearance.
Since she hasn't even stumps of arms, I'm afraid she can't use any kind of crutches.
I've given a lot of thought to this, but the only way I see for her to move which would not be exhausting (not to mention dangerous ), is the one Gillian is using.

Well ... I can't say it wouldn't work but I'm not sure it would be very practical ...
At least it's a funny way to solve the problem !

Thank you very much !
I agree, it is nice looking. I already said that, but HowieFarkes really makes wonderful sceneries. I love his work.
The software I use (Carrara) has specific tools to create trees and grass, tools you rarely find in other softwares. That explains why it's hard to find things like this working for other softwares. Too bad Carrara seems not to be developped any more.

Excellent story line. Keep it going. I bet all that hopping is tiring..Β
Great work on the shadows.

Thank you, I'm glad you like the story . It'll go for some time (it's only nearly halfway).
Assuming it's possible, yes, that hopping must be exhausting, physically but also mentally due to the concentration to keep her balance.
About the shadows, that was rather easy. I positionned the sun to have them where I wanted (I spent some time to find where look best, but not much) and let the render engine do its work. The semi transparency of the shadow of Gillian's skirt is a nice effect, I think, but I did nothing special for this.

I'm sure it is exhausting and tiring.Β
As for the shadows, that's what makes the image seem real.
Shadows are not easy at times but you seemed to have nailed it spot on.Β

Cute series and nice story
Great amount of details - did you render the background or have you used a photo?

Thank you very much !
It's entirely 3D render. The background is βCountry Lane Hedgerowβ by HowieFarkes.
And thanks for the fav too !
