Description Rebecca and Gillian heard a jogger coming from behind them, but they did not pay a particular attention to that one. Why would they have ? Joggers are rather common on this trail.

As the jogger came closer, Gillian noticed though there was something odd with the sound of the footsteps, but she could not pinpoint what it was. She dismissed it. It was not important. Her mind was focused on the conversation she was having with Rebecca. That was interesting.

They are accustomed to the reactions of surprise or even shock Gillian draws from other people. Sometimes, rarely, but always too often someone makes a mocking comment. Most of the time they simply ignore it. No time to loose with stupid people.

From behind them, undoubtedly uttered by the noisy jogger, came one of these nasty comments.
 - you're really .. slow ... you know that ?

The voice was feminine, and clearly showed the jogger was out of breath, but the tone was loud, mocking, enjoying saying it, though, strangely, not really mean.

I really like the composition in this one, with the mystery person in the foreground just visible enough to hint at what's to come! The armless shoulder provides a clue to what might be revealed... but who could expect what it will be! I confess, the first time I saw this picture I had no inkling that it would be Deborah!!

The little story that goes along with these pictures - like your earlier multi-part adventures - is really well done too, leaving the motivation of the mysterious newcomer unknown!

And, of course, as always, your rendering is impeccable. Beautiful and subtle lighting and wonderful detail!

If I could make one tiny (REALLY tiny) further improvement (not that the picture needs it) it would be to make Gillian slightly less 'stable' and upright as she walks. She'd have to lean quite far to her right to make a step with her left stubbie, and even further to her left to swing her right leg forward (as it would have to be fixed rigidly to her stumpless hip). So it's likely that when the 'camera shutter' clicks and takes the picture she'd be slightly off-balance, with her centre of gravity over whichever of her stubbies is currently taking her weight. As it is, it looks as if she's standing still rather than walking... which, of course, she might be!! But I'm REALLY nit-picking... it's a wonderful picture and I love it!

It took me time to find the right idea. At first the camera was like in the next picture. And I was not satisfied. I tried to move from left ro right but could not find the right point of view. And one day "what if I put the camera behind them ?". I liked the result. But while trying to position the camera more precisely, I could not find a way to show Deborah entirely and not being too far from Gillian and Rebecca. And then I realized that in fact it would be better to just show a part of Deborah, because, precisely, it makes her mysterious !

You're absolutely right about Gillian's pose and how she has to lean to walk. Apart from her "feets" not being on the same line (which is rather subtle), it's not obvious she's walking. I should indeed have chosen a pose where she is somewhat off-balance to give a better impression of motion.

People walking on stubbies do have a very particular way of walking... where they almost sway from side to side to free their feet to move forward. It'a hard to capture in a still image of course. And, like you say, the indication that the character is walking has to be very subtle... otherwise it looks as if they're falling!

Thank you !

I wanted to be mysterious with the jogger . You'll see who she is next sunday !

The background is “Country Lane Hedgerow” by HowieFarkes. This one works only with the software I use, Carrara.

HowieFarkes makes incredible sceneries like this one (he also made the small lake I used for the other adventure of Gillian). Most of them work only with Carrara but he has made/convert a few for DazStudio.
