Description
inflight shot as an airshow spectator might have seen it.......a Grumman F-14A Tomcat performing with the US Navy,s world famous Blue Angels precision aerobatic display team. a pair of inert/dummy Phoenix missiles could probably have been used as self-contained oil tank+smoke generator units for making colored smoke-trails for airshow performances, and the Blues could have done some totally awesome/wild manuvers and tricks with the Tomcat,s variable-geometry wings and superb low-speed manuverability. just the Show Value/Publicity/Glamour/Pride factor alone would have been cheap at twice the price!Related content

all it would have taken was a bit of cash, and a few words from Tom Cruise and Ronald Reagan.

i did have a thought on that......if the Blues had just held on with the A-4s for one more season......1986? hmmmm. Summer,1986....Tom Cruise and Top Gun boost the Tomcat to a world-famous Cultural Icon, and a household word.........also the fave plane of President Ronald Reagan.......! lots of fan-letters and public support.....

don,t we all? but it just would have been far too costly......Tomcat is a great plane, but still takes a lot to keep one in full fighting trim.

yeah, but still, I wish they would have at least made some newer, lest costly versions, or went through with the Tomcat 21. Just looks too plain now with though super hornets taking up the the deck space

it would almost be worth going back, just for some of the fantastic airshows they have over in the UK. just a Red Arrows performance alone is worth the trip.
