sweet! Wait a sec....you mean you designed and built that CatLiner yourself?

TomCatDriver In reply to Greyhound-Bus [2007-07-25 07:20:23 +0000 UTC]

sure did! my English Rose,Ferrygirl did a pic of the Grumman 2-tailed Tomcat mascot dressed as an airline captain,so the Catliner was my response! also had the model inspected and approved by the FAA for safety features. it would work,if actually built.

actually, the Catliner,s a bit bigger than that! a widebody in the DC-10/L-1011 size/weight class, using the same engines as a Boeing 777! and lots faster, just nudging the Sound-Barrier at cruise altitude. VnE more likely to be around 750-ish mph.

the 787 (I live just up the street from the Renton Boeing Plant) I have been seeing alot of articles lately and they just completed the first tail section and being that it is all carbon fiber the entire plane was created from spools of thread.

I love planes, but have a fear of flying Now.. being "sewn" together in my mind that makes it even more unsafe! Lol.. just had to say it since I saw you mention the 787.

TomCatDriver In reply to demenshia [2007-04-08 08:21:17 +0000 UTC]

787 had better be good,my Company is going to be the Launch Customer, and i,m probably gonna be flying them until i retire!

demenshia In reply to TomCatDriver [2007-04-08 16:05:51 +0000 UTC]

Boeing has always made good jets in my opinon. The thing that bothers me though is this seems to be the first all carbon fiber jet in this size. I wonder what problems will be seen due to flight stress over time?

I wish I could be a pilot I recently heard they increased the retirement age until 65 for commercial airline pilots.

Boeing hasn,t failed the Industry yet. but only time will tell. I trust them to deliver, unlike Airbus! as far as being a pilot, nothing should stop you.

just an original creation/design i made at a friend,s request. Boeing was working on a similar design called the SoniCruiser, but it was cancelled in favor of the 787 Dreamliner, for which my Company is intended to be the "launch customer" in 2009? let,s see what happens. Al C.,Captain,COAir it would be nice to see Grumman start making big airliners,i love their Tomcat, take a romp thru my gallery and you,ll see what i mean!
