and it,s not the only one in my gallery either. this one was the logistics/support plane for the US Navy Blue Angels team, they used to call her "The Building",due to her size!

Ohmigawd! I'd never have the heart to do so many models. Well, I can never afford to buy this many kits, anyway.
What's the scale?
You should do the same with the Thunderbirds. lol

How do you manage to do so much?! If I do so much, I'd only end up getting tired of the color scheme and mess 'em up!
I envy your collection of models and model kits. I mean, 1000 of them! I only get like, 1 kit per year as 1/32 Tamiyas are too expensive.
-is shocked- XD

I prefer 1/48th. 72 is a bit too small for me. Mark 1's ain't what they used to be.

no choice here. it was a bit frustrating to backdate the Cutlass, and there are no other kits for most of these planes in 1/48. Lindberg made an F11F Tiger, but it was a very early prototype not used by the Blues, and forget finding a Connie! and Revell,s old kit of the Cougar jet was in one of those GdDm "Box Scales" too.

Fujimi has an F-11F and I believe it's 1/72nd. Needs a cockpit but it's got pretty decent detail. I think it's still out there. I believe they also put out a Cutlass in both scales in the mid-90's. Minicraft has a nice Connie and there's another airliner scale Connie that came out just a couple of years ago. I forget who makes it but I read that it's pretty nice. Ever look at resin kits?

Fujimi? OK,i think you mean Hasegawa. Fujimi did make a superb family of later Cutlasses, but didn,t include an early type as used by the Blues.

Possibly, but I'm pretty sure it was Fujimi.

F11F Tiger,Hasegawa 1/72,came out about 1979-80,along with a superb little Panther and Cougar. Lindberg had made one back in the 50s ,1/48,as a very early prototype and Monogram used to make a set of 4 {scale unkn}as a set in diamond formation,Blue Angels.

I remember building the Lindberg kit when I was a kid (around 1966). I didn't know any better. I just liked the Blue Angels markings.

Probably. I think it's a matter of how much will it cost to clean them up compared to how much they'll make selling the reissue.

TomCatDriver In reply to focallength [2008-02-05 08:54:05 +0000 UTC]
as i remember, the Monogram set was a very well-done mold,no cleaning up needed. i,d buy one{or more!} if they issued it again.

just a matter of demand. one thing mfgrs should do is spy on Ebay, and see what OOP kits are fetching the Big Bucks! that Otaki/Entex/Revell-CEJI 1/144 C-5 Galaxy always seems to go for triple-digits!
