Description
I figured that a lot of my tutorials were getting a bit out of date for my method of working. =/ I know you guys still use them. I guess they need updating, but people have been asking me for a skin tutorial for AGES, so I did one and I hope it lives up to expectations.Enjoy

Nice!!! I've been having troubles with creating a good skin texture... especially when it comes to the lighting... This seems very useful!! Thanks for sharing!!

No doubt you have extraordinare talent with difital painting. I like this "real" form of digital painting which you mention elsewhere as well, with the little-to-no use of all the extravagant tools and such. I'm still much of a newbie and have, of course, used most of them, but reading your tutorials and seeing your work inspired me to try and do it properly now that I've landed a tablet as well.
Thank you for the inspiration!

Very useful indeed.
You did use the watercolour brush on PS right?
Because I've been having trouble lately with my skin colouring. xD;

I just used basic round brush for this, but you can use watercolour brush. You can get some nice effects with it. It's worth experimenting and trying your own things anyway.

That's okay I hope it works for you. As long as you're prepared to play with opacity to get subtle layering effects and also to spend a little time blending, you should be successful with a lot of different brushes.

I just used the basic circular brushes in this tutorial, set to very hard near the start and softer towards the end. What exactly went wrong?

I've been doing digital art since I was about 11 or 12 and I'm 19 now. I'm still learning! But you'll pick it up fast. It's just a matter of constant improvement.

Lol GREAT tutorial!!! I've had problems with skin until now thanks to you! I mean I still need ALOT of practice on it... along with my proportions... but THANK YOU for this tutorial, it saved my life! I posted what I ended up with at the end. I used the same pose you used because it was an easy one, I hope you don't mind! You're in the credits though xD
Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this tutorial!!!!

I like how you use varying colors other than just peachy colors with black and/or white added to create the darker/lighter variations. It creates a more natural, healthy skin tone. Excellent tutorial!

Yes, colour variation in skin has always been a big, big thing for me. Plastic ain't my favourite look!
