Description Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!

I had a lot of reservations about doing this type - I know that Goths seem to hate being associated with Emos, and vica versa. But because I've had so many comments mentioning Emos, I thought that it really had to be done.

Sorry that this has been a long time in coming, and that it's drawn even sloppier than usual... I've been revising for and doing my university final exams for the past month, and I've only just had a break...

As much as I dislike Emo's, The Rasmus is one of my favourite bands. x.x'' But HIM is my favorite.

I also love The 69 Eyes, AFI, and Skinny Puppy.

I don't hate emos. I hate the fact that they're constantly merged with the goth subculture. Its frustrating.

sorry but emos are poser...because the emo movement been stealing other subcultures styles, in my country are already confused with the goth subculture and the emo fashion and I feel that as an insult ...the gothsubculture is beautiful and deliciously decadent and dark and the emo fashion are a lot of guys are frustrated that only want to suicide and spend all day depressed...they are a shit...

kudos

The problem with these mixture type is that, a lot of people might be confuse of what really is the difference between the two kinds and because of that a conflict of interest and misconceptions much will likely to happen..

do any of these genre's actully exist? cause i've never seen anyone who actully matches any of these

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Voltaira In reply to raptorcat [2009-12-18 02:26:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, these genres actually exist, and you may not see people who exactly meet these descriptions because she is making fun of the stereotypes. But I have seen emo kids, cybergoths, rivetheads, etc. So yeah, they do exist, but some of the subcultures/genres you don't normally see every day. Some cybergoths, rivetheads, steampunks, etc, don't dress up in their nice garb every day, a lot of the times they break out their nice clothing for the club or whatever, so unless you go to a bunch of Goth clubs you probably won't see a huge variety of these subcultures. Hope that helps.

I love how some of the comments on here are people saying they 'fit into this category'. (Same thing on the other deviations.)
Be yourself, douche bags. If you 'happen' to have all the characteristics of a certain label, okay. At least you're yourself. But don't go around saying 'oh, I'm emo' or 'oh, I'm emo goth' (or ANY label/sterotype).
Calling yourself 'emo' or 'emo goth' is kind of... well, you sound like a poser. (Not that I don't think 'poser' is a label. You can easily call someone a poser- or poseur- and still BE one yourself.) And it makes me laugh. End of story.

And as much as I loathe labels, I'm not sure if 'goth' IS a label, lol.

I really loathe these little kids, and I'ts not because they're new to the scene, Steampunk and Visual are both as recent as emo yet they are well-accepted and even looked-up to, so it must be because they trivialize feeling and emotion into little superficial whims and act so fragile and victimized.
Dont know about you but sharp wits have always been prevalent among the goths I know and having to mind our words, our humour and our behaviour because the little ladybugs will cut themselves out of notthing and try to guilt-trip us... You just cant like that kind of people.

Emos aren't or will ever be goth or punk. And the only reason why they like Tim Burton films and such is because they sell his merch at Hot Topic.
Emo is just a fad and will be gone within 10 years, it won't be around like the other goth styles, it will only be known as the next disco.
...I truely hate emo and my school seems to be overflowing with them...good job though.

i'm used to it, so i rather see it as a compliment ^^
but yeah, i come from Holland and here it has become an actual insulting word. someone who shows emotional breakdown or isnt feeling well, will soon enough be called emo, when ya got peircings to. here its crappy shit to be emo/goth/scene. you always get insulted.

I love how everyone rushes to label themselves after viewing these pieces.

A wise friend once said
"The difference between emos and goths is such:
Emos hate themselves. Goths hate everyone.
Emos want to kill themselves. Goths want to kill everone"

Of course I've just generally found goths to be more pleasing to be around then emo-kids.

emos are like the astranged children of goths, they have some simalarites that can't be missed

a number of goths hate to compaired to emos

my theory is that, as we know, goths love thier individuality, and "emo" has become the "in" thing. so goths have come to despise any crybaby in skinny jeans and shirts with skulls on them. therefor, sadly, the true emos who dress the way they do because they honestly feel conected with it , are trapped within the masses that the goths hate.

due to that scorn a number of emos hate to be comaired to goths.
