Description
Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!I had a lot of reservations about doing this type - I know that Goths seem to hate being associated with Emos, and vica versa. But because I've had so many comments mentioning Emos, I thought that it really had to be done.
Sorry that this has been a long time in coming, and that it's drawn even sloppier than usual... I've been revising for and doing my university final exams for the past month, and I've only just had a break...

Those bands you name aren't emo, just pop rock.
If you want to know and write about Emo, then read this website: [link]
Most emo's would push you over a cliff for saying that.

I have made reference to the fact that emo used to refer to the kind of music you're describing, but in 21st century usage, most people associate emo with the "pop rock" end of the genre.

Thank you for your repley.
Yea, a great deal of kids call them selves emo's and listen to those musicians. But it's a general misunderstanding that those bands are "emo" bands. I am trying to inform people of this, but it's very hard to break through.
MCR, FOB and such bands are often referd to Scenekids or Kitties. (I don't have any problems with them.)
Bands such as Embrace, Bright Eyes and Rites of Spring are emo bands.
If you want to help me inform kids about the true story, instead of them being confused by the media. Then please change the names.

I honestly hope you know that emo have nothing to do with gothic in any way. Emo's fashion re-appeared from the 80's style (indeed, if you didn't know this).
You probably well explained their clothing style but never put the word gothic with the word emo. Never. These two cultures are totally different and will never be connected, no matter what. Except if you talk about those fake goths claiming they are 'emo goth' which is totally impossible.
Anyway. Nice drawing in overall. Just shared my thoughts about this to clear things up.

Indie emo=good. Goth emo=bad. I think of it as this... emo is good trendy fashion. Goth is just good fashion (usually. Let's not inspect individual wardrobes). Emo tude? Fucking annoying!!! It's like the dark indulgence of goth minus ALL the intelligence. Love emo music, for the most part, HATE all those fucking kids!!! (Wow.... your work is very therapeutic for me XD)

Yeah, why?
Because it's a new trend, something completely popular to those 13 years-old teenagers. So since it's popular, people puts them in one same basket; they wear black, it's emo. Meh.

I'm probably very annoying by times now (LOL) but emos from nowadays deserve it with their attitude (most of them). 'I hate the world, I hate myself, I hate my life, I'm emo-goth...' This is probably why they're so disliked around the world right now. These 13 years old kids try to connect gothic and emos culture which is... unthinkable in any possible ways!
But don't gte me wrong; I'm tired to see people bashing emos in this way: ''You're a fucking emo! Go cut yourself...!'' Hate this.

But why is everyone getting worked up about this?
Emo and Goth are just ways of dressing, and genres of music!
...
Oh, and awesome series. :]

I know, people do get very worked up about what is "Emo" and what is "Goth." I suppose people are quite protective of their subculture, and will jealously defend it from "competing" cultures.
Thanks!

I have nothing against Emos, I just hate it when people lump Emo and Goth together. But I do see your point, there are many who are a mix of the two.
I love Tim Burton films myself ^_^ but I don't wear emo fashion or particularly listen to emo music other than MCR (even then i prefer 'Three Cheers...' to 'The Black Parade.'
