Description
Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!I had a lot of reservations about doing this type - I know that Goths seem to hate being associated with Emos, and vica versa. But because I've had so many comments mentioning Emos, I thought that it really had to be done.
Sorry that this has been a long time in coming, and that it's drawn even sloppier than usual... I've been revising for and doing my university final exams for the past month, and I've only just had a break...

I like that you included every possibility however. Your "Goth types" are really awesome.

...go together? Well, I live in eternal hope. How can Goths and Emos ever hope to live in harmony with the "normals" if they can't even get on with each other???
Thank you very much!

You're welcome! ^^
I just hate the fact that emo pretty much killed goth where I live and between my Sophomore and Junior year, I went from being called "goth" to being called "emo".
It drove me crazy because of the negative aspects of the emo society.
Not long after, most of my goth friends actually went through the transformation into the emo world. After a while of being called "emo" I figured that it wasn't worth it and now I just wear jeans and tee-shirts. And my hair's still my beloved black :]
I miss being goth but I still know who I am deep down even though I am much more conservative and ahem *normal* now.
Sorry for the long explaination o.o;

I think of them as a disgrace but I do love how you show this. Very true, I do like your work.

I'm sorry, but emos are just a bad, cheap imitation of Goth. But both cultures dress like homos. I don't like either. All they do is whine about everything, complain, pretend, attempt and fail at suicide, seek attention and they all like irritating the rest of the population with their non-conforming bull-shit.
The style isn't that great either. Why can't we all just normally at this day in age? Not with forty piercings coating our bodies and black hair with freaky excessive eye-makeup.
All the emo/goth...whatever you call them...people I have met are beyond annoying.

Dude, it's just the style of this century get over it.
It's gone from the funky colors and disco dancing.
And many other things to this, it'll blow over and a new wave of stuff will come.
Who gives a shit.

If I was actually any type of goth, this would be me. *has actually been referred to as an emo goth more than once*
I love all your stereo goth descriptions; I can't believe how many there are! I think the thing I love the most about your work though, is the fact that you realize that everyone has their own particular tastes and whilst maybe been heavily influence by one stereotype, can be a mixture of many more as well.

Actually, I've read articles that suggest that those who classify themselves as "goth" or "emo" are statistically more likely to self harm (or perhaps, those who self harm are more likely to be drawn to the goth or emo subculture). But I don't really want to talk about that issue in these pictures because these are meant to be light hearted, while self harm is something that I think should be taken seriously.

Hum... I consider myself as a gothic and I'm against self harming. You don't need to be a goth or an emo to do such things. That's a pretty touchy subject but it's not the style or the culture you're part of that will make you do things rather than others. *blink*

I love all you goth type series, and I like a lot the goth style, I dont consider myself a goth, but I can relate myself with things i read in some of the (stereo) types you have described, and here in my country, emo is like an offense.. i like darkness, i embrace everyone of my feelings, and like black clothes since always, they (emos) like things that i did, wear or liked before.. but then the emos gain "strenght" or whatever and suddenly you are labeled like an emo (usually by people who dont understand the whole pic..) that is the reason i dont like them, they are like the "happy-punks" turned dark.. or something..
anyways, love your work!! very well done!!

I don't hate Emos, but i DO hate people who whine and know nothing to talk about, other than their "great, life and death issues" with choosing to have either pasta or chicken for dinner - if u get what I mean And unfortunately, many Emos tend to do that

Don't really like tagging people, but your collection is pretty interesting... I'm a Goth myself (not the Satanistic, superficial and violent type, though ) so I'll check and see which one is most like me

haha, this is great...I've always heard the goth-emo combination referred to as "Gothmo" (similar to, for instance, Punkmo and Screamo). Personally I have a soft spot for some of the emo style and some of their music, but I think a large percentage of the people who call themselves Emo subscribe to the lifestyle/mentality less because it reflects what they really feel and more because it's appealing/intriguing/mysterious/annoying/whatever :-P
Have you ever seen the "How To Be Emo" video? Google it and you should get it...absolutely hilarious and frighteningly accurate, if a bit long.
Definitely been enjoying your Goth series, though, I love the small-scale distinctions you've been able to make (so many people just see black clothes and instantly say "oh, goth/emo" without realizing that there are very distinct styles within either.
