It's all very interest-OH LOOK, A BUTTERFLY!
Lore time. :3 Luckily, there won't be many more pages like this for a while, these take a long time for me to write. :/ But nevertheless, here's my clumsy attempt at having Tavi explain everything.
Lyra's question of ponies singing may sound strange, if it involved only singing. But when somepony starts singing (at least in this universe), it gets an instrumental backup, sometimes without any visible band. (I declare that to be a pony thing, just like the "lyrics-empathy" or something like that.) So why do you need to hire a real band when you get it anyway? Tavi explains why. :3
Also, Tavi calls her miss Lyra Heartstrings instead of miss Heartstrings, because Heartstrings isn't Lyra's family name. (At least in this universe.) So I treat the whole of her name as a given name.
Also #2, yep, the two musical ponies mentioned will be(/are) characters as well.

One small edit I will suggest is in panel 6 where Tavi says "for almost any kinds of events" it would make more sense for her to simply say "for almost any kind of event".

You need exposition sometimes if you want to build anything significant.
Can you imagine how flat and lifeless stories and songs would be if confined to, say, a 140 character limit?
(That's why I avoid Twitter. Except the kind Fluttershy's birds use...)
It's kind of amazing: a pony- er, person - used to have to fight for brevity and focus; now you have to defend patience and thoroughness...

This comic was a kind of an exposition heavy info dump. Actually, quite a few of the recent pages have seemed a little such as well, this one just even more so. A good dose of show-don't-tell might be in order.
World building is great, but not if the characters spend more time talking about it than actually doing anything.

I really love these types of exposition pieces. It's rare to make that sort of thing sound interesting in a comic, but you managed to do that well.
