The den smelled sweet from the hay, which was strewn about the floor of the enclosure to keep the new pups clean and warm. Upon her approach the mother seemed disinterested, as the first pup bounded toward her, a collared grey male. The smaller female seemed to hide a bit behind her mother, fearfully.

Ahnah sat still waiting for her to come out. She knew the male had already been claimed, but had heard the female was perhaps a good match for her. The small creature eventually poked its head into the dim yellow light, and padded toward Ahnah, sniffing tentatively. Ahnah eventually placed her hand on the pup's mane, gently petting and massaging the nape of the neck, hoping the sensation would calm her down. The little female pup didn't bolt as the handler picked her up, but stared at her new master with eyes as blue as the clear day's sky. Her paws were large, her tone healthy. She could see the pup was in perfect health. Ahnah could sense the underlying fear of the small creature, but she too could sense the gentle nature and sweet demeanor - a perfect fit for her work in tending those in need.

"I think she's perfect. I'll take her."
