Description
~~~A tutorial on dragon feet. :3 Requested a bit ago - I found some time and decided to sit down and do it.
I really rather like how it turned out.
It explains general dragon feetsies and the general how-to-draw stuff. I included all sorts of angles and my favourite - splayed toes.
These descriptions are pretty much just how I tackle drawing different dragon feet and claws - and I find them pretty effective.
Also note, most of the dragon feet I drew/draw are five-clawed. This tutorial can also go for two/three/four/six/whatever-toed dragons. Just subtract/add some digits.
Hope you find it helpful!
Art (c) me.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was at a point in my drawing that I could not get the feet right on my dragon. I had forgotten that hind feet have the thumb in a different position. I'll show you the finished product when I'm done.
Nah, I'm still confused with claw size comparison, with the whole dragon size. I mean how big the claw is if compared with the dragon size...
I hope you can help me, and thanks for this tutorial
Proportions are general and are usually based on the critter you're drawing. They have to be small enough to not look awkward, but big enough to look realistic and that they'd hold the critter's weight.
Hope that helps!
Yep, I did see NeonDragon's book, haha. I realized the finger did look like the one she did after I did mine, lol.
Wonderful guide. :]
Had this inspiration to make a dragon/dinosaur hybrid character and, for the life of me, could not draw the hind claws. I thank thee. Now I won't look like an idiot trying to do this solo. XD
Great tutorial. A lot of the arm/leg poses remind me of poses from a drawing book I have by NeonDragon... In fact, they're VERY similar.
Eh, maybe you both have very similar ideas.
