Description
There's a version of this that the icon at the bottom blinks, I just can't upload it in the right category on dA =w= So I'll add a link to that later.Anyway, this is how I made my current icon only that required a little more artistic skill because my icon eats itself. This is very basic but I hope it's helpful!
If you use this for an icon, I'd love to see your icon afterward! just leave a comment!
Yeah, other then that, this is self explanatory. And made on GIMP. Lol

XD Haha. wow. I've had GIMP for like, what? A whole year? And I was completely unaware of it being able to animate. o.o I don't use it that much, so I guess it's not surprising, but still that's cool.

If you go to 'window' at the top and go down to 'layers' (or something like that >_<) it should pop up.

This was great Thank you But um, when you open the icon up again, how do you change the speed ?

UkeVash In reply to Shadow-Cliff-Stock [2010-08-11 18:13:35 +0000 UTC]
((Sorry for the late reply, you might have already figured it out >.<))
You will have to go back and resave it, changing the thing that says something like 'delay between frames.' If you want it faster, you decrease the number, if you want it slower you increase the number. then you just have to look at it again and see if that is how you want it ^^

UkeVash In reply to Lavi49 [2010-08-11 18:15:27 +0000 UTC]
((Sorry for the late reply, you might have already figured it out >.<))
Still images? You can probably right clock the image on the internet and click 'save picture as' and save it to your computer, then put it into GIMP. Doing that, you might have to resize it by going to Image>scale image (it's something like that, I don't recall off the top of my head).
As for moving images, I'm not sure how to don that yet >.> I think there might be websites for that? I haven't checked ; sorry!

Like, different pictures in the locket on your icon? You can make new layers and crop them down to fit in the oval of the locket.
Or if you want a bunch of different pictures to flash across the icon, you can pull in new pictures and go to 'layer>scale layer' (I think that's what it says) and scale them all down to 50x50 and then follow the instructions in this tutorial ^^
