I like your two across keyblade tutorial, the only thing I would change when I make one, is to round out the handle where you hold it.

thanks. i suppose you could round out the handle, but i didnt because i wanted the checkers to be completely square and the only way to have that 3D checkred look is if it was square ^_^ but thanks for your input

Thank you I do sell them.
However, I am looking for premium enthusiasts who truly want an exceptional piece of sculpture. they are difficult to make and require a premium price.

Your tutorial was immensely helpful! I was able to make Aqua's Stormfall for AX this year and I turned out to be really good despite it being my first time with a jigsaw. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to use a dremmel tool or paint it properly so it looks kind of bland. That, and the pine plywood that I used ended up being cheap, and I forgot to drill pilot holes for the bigger drill bits and I ended up splintering the wood. I plan to make another one from birch plywood and with more details.
The step that took me the longest was finalizing the keyblade design on the tracing paper, that took me 24 Hrs. straight!
Here's the final version w/ me in cosplay:

the keyblades i make are for premium serious enthusiasts. so their prices are high, and the time they take to make is very long, so unless you are a serious high paying customer, then you probably cant afford one.

Is it okay if its sanded pine plywood
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to FOOLS12IFY [2010-08-09 06:40:47 +0000 UTC]
yes. but it doesnt matter if its sanded because you need to sand after the keyblade is finished with the carved details.
š: 0 ā©: 1
FOOLS12IFY In reply to vvmasterdrfan [2010-08-09 15:07:49 +0000 UTC]
Why do you have to sand it again if its already sanded .
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to FOOLS12IFY [2010-08-09 16:28:38 +0000 UTC]
because when you carve a keyblade, youre cutting away the wood? leaving unsanded wood that may need re sanding.. unless youre just going to cut out the keyblade and not carve it. which would look really bad.
š: 0 ā©: 1
FOOLS12IFY In reply to vvmasterdrfan [2010-08-09 17:30:46 +0000 UTC]
So sanding the keyblade after you cut the shape out will help the carving ,um right ?
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to FOOLS12IFY [2010-08-10 12:16:36 +0000 UTC]
no cause if youre cutting into the surface, it doesnt matter if its sanded or not. cause youre cutting away at it anyways. once all the detailing and carves are complete, the last step is to sand away any rough areas that need to be smoothed. (but not everything cause you dont want to smooth away clean cuts and edges)

Okay got it , sorry for all the questions , just trying to figure a lot out so I don't have to try to make these keyblade 20 times .
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to FOOLS12IFY [2010-08-10 16:19:59 +0000 UTC]
lol no problem just try and cut a little ata time, so when you stop and take a look at what you did, you can say. oh well i can carve it a little more deeper here. that way you can always fix anything . just remember that once you cut half way in, you cant cut anymore cause you still have the other side of the keyblade to finish

How and where did you make an area to let the chains stick in the blade ?
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to FOOLS12IFY [2010-08-09 06:39:28 +0000 UTC]
i cut a small area that is large enough to squeeze the chain in that way the chain is sandwhiched in between the wood tightly and then i secure it more with super glue and then wait for it to dry.

This is extremely cool, could u possibly either make a video or go into more detail about how you add fine detail to parts like the top of oblivion because I really don't understand what technique or method you used to do that and it's really frustrating me lol
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to h1928 [2010-08-04 04:29:52 +0000 UTC]
hmm yea i figured that i didnt do a detailed enough tutorial on specific parts. i guess i could make a video but it would be a while before i make one, cause i have school and stuffs :/ you really just need to take some scrap wood and follow my instructions on that one part of oblivion and try and replicate it several times and try different methods, it might be frustrating but just angle the tool to the angle of the detailed area and follow the lines you draw while keeping in mind ho deep you carve. think of the wood like clay or playdoh. just solid. try replicating the detailed area in clay even, just so you know how it should be done, 3 dimensionally before hand so you know what you're doing. let me know if i can help anymore

dude i have to say this tutorial is the best! lol this is gonna help me a LOT lol if me and my friends ever et to a convention im in charge of acessories/character weapons but uh any way its definitely THE BEST keyblade tutorial on the net and thankfully the tools arent hugely expensive and it seems relatively easy but if you ever go back and edit this you may want to say what you can sculpt with
anyway extremely good hell it needs to get a daily deviation if you ask me!

Hichico In reply to vvmasterdrfan [2010-07-31 02:34:49 +0000 UTC]
lol i have to ask a few things though
can you use the dremel for sculpting?
how exactly do you sculpt using it (if you can)
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to Hichico [2010-08-04 04:21:58 +0000 UTC]
haha the tutorial should explain hot to sculpt with it you just equip the dremel with the specific dremel tool you want to use and then start cutting to the angle of the carve you want to make and follow the lines you draw.you can then adjust what you make by carving more, or switching tools to allow for a more detailed design.

kk
ive started dremeling now and i was wondering if you had any tips in general there but specifically the keyblade im doing is kind of diamon shaped so any tips as to haw to do that also any tips for rounding the handle?
the keyblade im doing is [link]
and the next one ill do is [link]
any tips for either or both (preferably both)
š: 0 ā©: 1
vvmasterdrfan In reply to Hichico [2010-08-14 20:32:25 +0000 UTC]
hmm. well make sure you draw out the details on the large trace paper so you know what youre cutting. for the handle, i just smooth both sides until they become somewhat rounded., which can take a while.. :/ the diamond part just use the larger sander tool carve, that way you get a clean angled cut. if its a little rough, you can always manually sand it later. also in th corners it can be hard to carve so you may need to switch tools
