I've had so many compliments and questions, that i decided as a Christmas Present, to show you guys how to make them
This is a Tutorial for two of my keyblades:

You cut these out with one sheet of plywood right?, how thick are the keyblades once they're finished? (I usually glue two sheets of 1/2 inch plywood together)

i just use 3/4ths inch wood.

This tutorial is amazing and is sure to help me in my future cosplays, but I have a couple questions if you don't mind
My first question is, would another material work for this? Like maybe Styrofoam boards with some reinforcement? I come from a fairly poor family and I don't have enough money to buy wood every time I want to make a weapon for cosplaying 
Secondly, would this tutorial work for other weapons? Like staffs and swords?

styrofoam can work, but i cant guarantee the quality or if it is done the same. of course styrofoam alone cannot be strong like wood. i have seen some kingdom hearts weapons out of styrofoam and some of the pieces rip right off. wood is fairly inexpensive actually. a large sheet of styrofoam costs the same as a sheet of wood.
this tutorial will work for other weapons. however, more three dimensional things will need more careful planning for how it will be put together. be creative!

Wow! This is very informative. Even though I'm not making a keyblade, (making a Japanese katana) this'll definitely help me. Best woodwork I've ever seen! but I'm wondering, how long does it take you to fully complete each keyblade?

How did you paint them? I airbrush, so i thought it might be easier to gun it instead of brushing (other than brush and wipe back for tattered effect with metallics). You don't seem to sand them, lol why don't you?
And they also look really heavy :/
But still a great tutorial! Great work!

i hand paint them. haha yea this is the point where i didnt sand much. but it is sort of pointless to overly sand. once you apply the gesso primer it gets rough again. it is a bit frustrating haha but whatever. they are also extremely light. (the goal is that they look heavy but feel light right?

Oh it hought they were heavy since they were wood. The Kingdom Key i made was only part wood but was still quite heavy.

Nah it is really light because youre cutting so much wood off. Also, you are carving at least 1/3rd of the weight off too.
