Thanks! It's a bit outdated though, Inkscape has since added lots of new features, and I'm still in the process of figuring them out. The development version also has a cool new variable-width line option.

Hello, don't know if you can help me or not, but I don't understand this program at all XP
Well what the problem is is that I made a logo/banner mascot design for a contest but didn't realize it had to be done in vector format. I did the entire image in Photoshop CS3 and it's all in color. Over the net I found a place that would convert my image to a vector format in just a few minutes, but it costs money after the second try. I looked for an alternative, and was directed to Inkscape. Unfortunantly, I haven't been able to figure out how to vectorize a colored image, I've only found tutorials on how to vectorize grayscale/black and white images.
Do you think you could help me figure out what I need to do? I would greatly appreciate it.

:\
You'll have to do it manually. Either trace in black and white then fill in the appropriate colors, or use the Bezier tool to re-trace the lines and fill in the appropriate colours. Probably option 2 as it gives cleaner results.

Um, quick question: If I still have my lineart, and I import that in as .png image with a transparent background, can Inkscape select the lines and convert them to vector or will I have to draw over them seperatly? I found a tutorial that explains what I'm looking for, but it's for an older version of Inkscape and the commands aren't he same anymore.
Sorry for bothering you

Yes, you are bothering me.
Try for yourself but you'll get cleaner output by redoing the lineart manually with the Bezier tool. Apart from that, I've never bothered using the bitmap tracing tool, so you figure it out yourself.
