Big thanks to Claus for converting all these to a wiki format as well. Everybody is welcome to submit improvements, updates and translations to this wiki, so it may be more up-to-date. These tutorials were done with Krita 2.5.2 ~ 2.5.3. To my knowledge, Krita 2.6 should have a mostly similar interface.

- Symmetry mode, Interface, Quick overview of some brushes
Part 2 - Layers and Editing ( Wiki version )
- Layer management: alpha locking, layer mask and erase mode, filter brushes, masks and layers, local selections, clone layers, use recommendations
- Image properties and editing: basics, selections, transformation tool and deform brush,
Part 3 - Brushes

These are great explanations! I found Krita's many brush engines intimidating at first, these are incredibly helpful for little things I didn't know I could do! Thank you!

You're really welcome! All those features can be a pain to dig out on your own, but once you know they're there, they're awesome! Especially since you just need to save them once as presets.

Indeed! I love the presets features, especially the Overwrite Preset feature. Its incredibly useful for editing brushes without having to make a whole new preset

Its part of the reason I even switched over to Linux in the first place, some of its features are so addicting I just NEEDED them running at full capacity

Again, I learned some features I didn't knew about Krita. 'Sample Input Layer' ? cool

It should make pixel art that much easier too. B) I mean, Pixel art sounds easy, until you realize that you have to pick the right colors to compensate for the lack of distinct areas. D: It's probably easier to just draw something unpixelated and make a pixel art Out of it...
Krita's brush engines have so many features. It'd be interesting to see how others make use of them. I'm a bit itching to finally try them out for myself, too!

Hmm,
Hi,this is Aman,
Krita's upcomming newer versions could be even better than Commercially available softwares like PD Howler Artist or TV Paint Animation, just because of the dedicated and motivated people like you and Boudewjn.
Let lasso tool be improved first.
But I would really like this to be considered:

Aman,
It really is useless to keep asking for an improved lasso tool everywhere and all over the internet. When 2.6 is released, you get your wish. Please remember that asking the same thing over and over can get annoying and disheartening for the developers. I know you mean well -- but just take a bit care with our patience.

Sorry for that!
Probably my old PC is slow and sometimes hangs and hence,I am not able to use Textures on Vector layers, even by following Valerievk's tutorials. However I think when within approximately two days, when I recieve my new tablet,Krita would work fine on it because of the high processing speed the new tablet would have. Then I can try Textures on Vector layer,as suggested in tutorials by Valevirik.

Um, I'm not a programmer. I just make tutorials. I can't tell the difference between OpenCL and OpenGL. So please don't ask Me for a lasso tool. And there's a workaround for what you're asking. See the first part of this tutorial:
[link]
Use a vector layer as "base." Place texture layer on top. Place gradient layer on top. That's it.

I am too,not a programmer.I will try this evening.

Let me try this tutorial once I recieve new Tablet within next two days as promised by the importer Dealer. Now my old PC is stucking badly or shutting down the applocation and not allowing me to try as per the tutorial you suggested.
My new PC is quite powerful and so I don't expect much bugs like shutting down of applications automatically or stucking badly in between. The tutorial seems slightly confussing but let me give it a try on my new system.

How are you so organized aaaaaall the time ; v ;
I envy your organizing skills T.T
I'm such a messy person /fail/
My Krita won't work for some reason :c maybe I should re-download it.

You wouldn't call me so organized if you saw how I work. E:
1. Right I should get started...
2. Okay, how should I present this section?
3. *think* *thinkthink*
4. *gives up and watches Youtube for a few hours* D':
Weird, which version of Krita are you trying to use? Be sure that you're trying to use the normal version of Krita, not "Krita Sketch" (that one's mostly for touchscreens).

Lol xD
But I start something...and if I feel like it, finish it in 20 minutes
If not, wait for 6 months feeling guilty and still not doing it :c
and then procrastinate....seriously, 4/5 of my Internet time is used for procrastination//derp
I think it's the normal version o3o
I guess it's just acting up, like Sai and Photoshop also do at times ;v;

Pff, it took me several Years to gather the motivation to do these tutorials. I've been meaning to help make tutorials for Krita since years ago.
(maybe I never got started because I subconsciously knew that it'd take me stupidly long to finish, wah ;_; )
Hmm, Krita crashes sometimes (not That often though) (save often just in case), but it should start at least. Go to [link] and try to install 2.5.9 for Windows. It works on my Windows XP crap machine, so it Should work on better systems...
