For unknown reasons, Kofi's birth parents abandoned him not long after he was born, and he has no recollection of them. Instead, the only mother he remembers is Ode, who quickly grew attached to the little ball of fluff and promptly named him Kofi. Growing up in the Nomad Pride, Kofi knew he was different when his spots refused to fade and rather than growing bulky like the other cubs, he was lithe and nimble. Though he knew he was different, Ode and the others always made sure he was treated just like everybody else, and so Kofi grew up in a rather loving home.

Kofi was always known as the most creative cub, coming up with games and adventures on the fly, but being raised by Ode to obey the rules, he wasn't much of a troublemaker, being an absolute mama's boy. Many of the other cubs also found him kind of boring; rather than wanting to wrestle and play, he'd much rather listen to stories, and had a special fondness for the elders of the pride. He'd sit with them all day, learning new and old stories front to back, and though there wasn't a special storyteller rank in the pride, he promised to always keep these stories alive.

As he grew, he too took up hunting and fighting lessons, and while Kofi wasn't the best at fighting due to his slimmer body, he was a very successful hunter, and was often invited on hunts with the others. Despite his newfound success, he still much preferred storytelling, and as time passed and the elders passed on, Kofi continued to tell their stories, while also coming up with new ones to share with his friends. He found a new audience with the arrival of his cousin, Laini, and he spent a lot of time caring for her whenever Rani and Kion got too busy. After their passing, he noticed the change Laini had gone through, and hopes to one day bring back the bright, playful cub she once was.
