Since his birth, Taka was none the wiser of his origins, and believed himself to be the blood son of Ahadi and Uru. Growing up, he was quite happy with his family, being particularly close to Uru. For a time, life was perfect. However as they grew older, things shifted quite quickly. Ahadi began to take Mufasa on lessons every day, leaving Haja and Taka to play by themselves. Taka began to notice, and when he learned they were royal lessons to be king one day, he was annoyed. Why did Mufasa get to be king and not him? To make matters worse, Mufasa began to pick on and bully Haja and Taka, and Taka often argued back. This, however, would only be the beginning of the rift.

After one particular argument, Ahadi burst in anger, and exposed the truth: he and Uru weren't Haja and Taka's blood parents. This completely threw Taka off, and shook him to his core. He now not only distrusted Mufasa, but Ahadi and Uru as well, and he began to distance himself from his parents. However, only Uru made an attempt to reach out to him, and over time, Taka began to trust her again, but Ahadi's unwillingness to compromise made it difficult for Taka to forgive him for his harsh words. But this was only the beginning.

As the three grew into teenagers and began to follow their own paths, Taka's path was taking a sharp decline. He began to argue with Ahadi more and more often, disobeying him and breaking rules. Haja was no longer there to guide him, for she became concerned with her own wants and needs, and Uru also became more busy. Taka began to feel lonely, and so he'd leave Priderock and stay out late, despite his father's warnings and harsh words. One night, when he strayed too far, he met three hyenas: Shenzi, Banzai, and Edume 'Ed'. The four, surprisingly, got along very well, and Taka finally found some good playmates and friends. Ahadi noticed the strange scent on Taka, and their fights became more and more frequent, with even Mufasa siding with Ahadi.

One night, Taka decided to push his luck, and he stayed out all night with the hyenas. When he returned to Priderock, Ahadi was furious, and a huge argument broke out, with Mufasa quickly joining as well to berate Taka. Eventually, the argument got so heated that Ahadi hit Taka, giving him a permanent scar, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Ahadi lost the respect and trust of his wife and sons that day, and Taka, more than ever, distanced himself from his family, including his mother, despite her efforts to reach out to him. He begins to live in a cave off by himself, away from everyone else, and he refuses to talk to anyone other than his hyena friends.

Time passed and as the boys aged, their relationship soured. When Taka caught Mufasa breaking the same rules and getting away with it, Taka accused Mufasa of being a hypocrite. Somehow, their relationship had only gotten even worse. As Taka grew into a young adult, he decided to reject his birth name, and chose to go by 'Scar', a blatant reminder of his quarrel with Ahadi. He was promptly betrothed to Sarafina despite his wishes, and his early adulthood only got worse with the death of his mother. As he grew and grew, so did his ambitions, and the hyenas began to see Scar as a possible meal ticket. The seed of Scar's plan was only just being planted, but he knew he wanted to be king, to finally have control for once.

After being married to Sarafina, life continued as normal, with Scar still living by himself and visiting the hyenas. Sarafina began to lose hope of their romance, but in due time, Scar knew he would need heirs, even if it had to be with Sarafina. Cubs, after all, were the next step, and as Sarabi failed to provide an heir for Mufasa, Scar found he could one up his brother. Sarafina, however, was skeptical of his affections, and Scar had to wriggle his way into her heart before she could bear cubs. Once Sarafina and Sarabi were pregnant, Scar began his plans, working out how he could take out Mufasa. He wasn't too worried of Sarabi's cubs, as she'd never carried a litter to full term, but Scar was proven wrong when, only days after his own were born, Sarabi successfully bore not only an heir, but a perfect son. And this made Scar furious.

Any plans Mufasa had for reconnecting were quickly vanquished by Scar, and Scar's biggest concern now became his plan to kill Mufasa and Simba. Corresponding with the hyenas, he managed to stage an 'accidental' death of their matriarch at the paws of Mufasa, allowing Shenzi to take over and secure their relationship. Scar promised them food in exchange for their loyalty, and they eagerly paid attention and agreed to his demands. And so, Scar's plot began.

After the execution of Mufasa and Simba, Scar was now king, and he quickly took over, implementing his own control. He gave the hyenas free reign over the territory, allowing the hyenas to boss around the lionesses, and with the lionesses outnumbered, they unwillingly agreed to over hunt. Scar kept total control, finally feeling at peace after his whole life had been decided for him, and now he needed to take the next step. Even as the lionesses grew restless, he knew they depended on him for safety, and with the hyenas backing him up, Scar was practically invincible.

However, as Nala, Tama, Tojo, Kula, and Chumvi grew older, cracks began to appear in the woodwork. Even with Chumvi and Kula's allegiance to him, Nala and Tama grew more and more rebellious, sneaking out to find cracks in the border, looking for a way to contact help. Another drought, more powerful than any they'd ever seen, hits the Pridelands full force, and now even the hyenas are anxious, with all the herds migrating away. Scar attempts to maintain control, but when Simba reappears for the throne, his whole plan is throne into chaos, and Scar dies at the paws of his once loyal followers.
