I'm sure you'd show just as much emotion if you lost your kids.

I know people get really emotional I just dont like seeing people cry
I feel pity when I see that and I dont like feeling that way so much, makes me sad sometimes
so not saying if sonic was like that he would be wuss
the way a reacted when I got my ipod stolen was a lot worse than those emotions displayed lol
I kid you not

Well you kinda have to utilize your imagination since the comic is still a motionless piece of art compared to something animated

Sonic Has Kids?! How Did He Lose Them?

In the Mobius X Years later storyline, yes.

How? When he travels in the past he changes the future where they never exist.

Do all the comics have these tone-downs? Because I feel like I'm missing out...that art is so powerful...

Hey Tracy! I love your art. Why did they tone it down if you don't mind my asking?

Uncut version gives more feeling for the character , but still excellent work over all.

Mr. Yardley, I know you're probably busy and have heard this question a lot, but can you send me a link to your website? I was planning to maybe browse around and buy some art.
And by the way, nice job, as usual!

i prefer the right...the toned down versions do look a lot more sober...i mean...sonic is the type of personality that isnt crushed no matter what happens...heheh...i dono...but seeing sonic bawl like that...just isnt him

Both of them look neat! I wonder if these take a long time to make, or if you're just trained to do this all the time. Nice one!

From my own observations, Sonic isn't exactly one to cry easily. So, the fact that he's even tearing up is enough to say he's really hurting. Really, Really hurting.

I do think the original version is very powerful as it conveys a much more emotional punch but I can see as how that might be a tad too dramatic for the comic.

Kinda sad to see the pictures toned down so much, especially the lower set. It loses a lot of feeling.

I understand that Archie's Sonic is meant for a young audience, but the toned down versions kinda make it look like he doesn't care that much.

i can't believe people find him weak to cry about his children

Wonder what'd happen if the left side was actually in the final version. It'd probably have many of the younger readers in tears. But excellent nonetheless.

WOW WOW!!!! Tracy Yardley!!!! How awsome! I loved your art since issue issue #160!!! Your art and Ian stories are wonderful!!! I hope Sonic the Hedgehog Comics keep going for a long time! The original art is better! I think it shows more emotion for that scene. To bad they didn't use it.

SayaTheBloodQueen In reply to ??? [2008-01-02 23:32:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's really nice to hear from such a fantastic archie sonic artist....It's been my dream to talk to someone from the archie team. And I've been wondering does Ian have anything planned for Sonic and Sally because for a lot issues except #167....I haven't seen them either getting back together or at least talk to each other. And were reaching Sonic #200....could it be that that issue will answer my question? I'm dying to know! As for M25yl you are so much better than how Butler did the characters.....add a crown to the younger Sonic's head and ta-da you have a future version of Sonic.....and Ian does the story better than Ken Penders. They should've done the character's future designs better like how they did Lara-su and her father. Anyway you and Ian made a great team on the conclusion to the future storyline....i think maybe Ian is trying to clean the whole mess that Ken had left like he probably will get the broken realtionship that Ken had left Sonic and Sally....like how he got M25yl back....while Ken left a huge cliffhanger with Sonic mysteriously disappearing....well sorry to have wasted your time.....I'm just really your biggest fan and Ian's and hope to meet you in person one day when I become famous for my art. Well see ya!

Mr. Yardly I am a huge fan of your art....and just wanted to say you have inspired me to create my own Sonic comic books. My friend's say my style is good that I should've joined the archie comic team but sadly I am still just a kid so.....yeah.....great art by thre way and I have that issue as well as all the other people do here. He looks like he's in a lot of pain at the left.....I would'nt blame him....If I lost my kids I'd cry myself to death especially If I had lost the one I love too. you and Ian have been making the Sonic comics my all time favorite comic. Well keep up the good work and see u!

Hmmm

I would say the original pencils on the bottom panel seem to show more raw emotion than what was published.

Yet, I wonder if what was wanted was a sense of "shocked numbness" where the character is too shocked to cry.

In fact I get that feeling from both of the published panels.
