Wow, finally a clay tutorial! The first thing that was on my to-do list that I've actually completed. @__@ I know you guys have been asking for a tutorial for a while, so now you may know the secrets to how I make clay figurines, haha.Why a llama? Well when I made my ones I realised that they were quite simple to make, and since a few of you guys (my watchers) had asked for a tutorial, I figured that a llama was a good way to go, easy and very deviantart-y.
Why foil? It makes your figurine lighter, faster to bake and you use less clay.
Clarification: To soften clay you can work it with your fingers, like massage it etc.
Remember, the tutorial goes from left to right, not down. n_n;
I hope you guys find this useful! It really could be used to any animal. This is the technique I use for ALL of my clay creations, so yeah, just adapt it to your needs.

Foil is safe in the oven? Do you know what happens to it when it goes in the oven?

It should be. When it goes into the oven, it heats up. It's used to cover meat etc when you put it into an oven.
The baking time for clay should be reduced dramatically because the foil heats up the clay from the inside.

Have you ever watched a cooking show? Foil is fine in the oven. It's the microwave that you need to worry about.

Nothing happens to it when it goes in the oven. You might be mistaking it for the microwave.

XD And I wasn't being insulting; If it seemed that way, I'm sorry. @__@ I was just making a joke because I've seen so many llama-related DDs recently! ^__^ I wasn't trying to say it wasn't worth one, really. I think it's cute, and it's pretty resourceful to use foil to stabilize it, I wouldn't have thought of it.

It may be because there's a GM who is just for this folder and who looks out for things that are devious and fun?
Not to mention that the tutorial is simple, and thus easy for people for use.. I made it simple so people would find it easy to make their own llamas, I didn't realise it would get a DD. >_<

I was going to say the same thing myself. "Llama is Internetz for InstantDD." I have a Llama on my page from way back when. It sucks and deserves a DD because it's a llama. *Snort.* Not saying this DD sucks, but. . . Definately not really DD fodder. *Shrugs*

But if you want to vent, talk to the GM. Her category is the DeviantArt related gallery, and she told me it's her job to promote art that is deviantart-y. As in, her job is to choose deviantions that relate to Deviant Art, llama badges = a very popular part of deviantart.
and instead of thinking that 'hey, my deviation was only featured because it's about llamas', I like to think of it as 'It's a simple tutorial that everyone should be able to use, about something that every deviant should be able to recognise'.
