Description Wow, finally a clay tutorial! The first thing that was on my to-do list that I've actually completed. @__@ I know you guys have been asking for a tutorial for a while, so now you may know the secrets to how I make clay figurines, haha.

Why a llama? Well when I made my ones I realised that they were quite simple to make, and since a few of you guys (my watchers) had asked for a tutorial, I figured that a llama was a good way to go, easy and very deviantart-y.

Why foil? It makes your figurine lighter, faster to bake and you use less clay.

Clarification: To soften clay you can work it with your fingers, like massage it etc.

Remember, the tutorial goes from left to right, not down. n_n;
I hope you guys find this useful! It really could be used to any animal. This is the technique I use for ALL of my clay creations, so yeah, just adapt it to your needs.

Other Tutorials (including how to make a cape for your llama):

Here are some of my deviations showing them completed!

Can't wait to see your llamas! Please show me what you do! If you do give me a link, I'll post it here so others can admire your llamas too!

Thanks for suggesting and for featuring! @__@

Hmmm?
Nooo I like your tutorial
I just mean the mods seem to always pic DA related things often for DD xD

Well i am the GM for dA related things and pick a DD of that category nearly each day. I can't see anything wrong for that as it is a community based gallery and surely does deserve some more attention - in my opinion

Reveia In reply to GinkgoWerkstatt [2010-09-13 17:50:13 +0000 UTC]

Nahhh Theres nothing wrong about it, I never said that either
I was agreeing with the comment I originally replied to, they said Instant DD, anything llama or DA related, like you said you do one everyday- so isn't the statement true ?

GinkgoWerkstatt In reply to Reveia [2010-09-13 17:57:52 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that i do dA related one nearly every day is true(it's my job to promote dA related things), but not that it just needs to have a llama. There is a general hype about llamas and so it gets suggested quite often(or more than other things). It might appears that they get featured quite often, but since i have become a GM in January i just gave like 4 DDs to llama related artworks - that's what i mean. So it's not that much, imo

Ahh Well I was talking to the artist and we both agreed all the DA related DD's seems to stand out a bit more, there for the deviants see them a bit more then the other DD's meaning we think there are more then there actually are XD

Yeah that could be a reason

Ooh, lol! Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Well, not always I guess, maybe we just notice them more? Since it's only one GM who should be doing it, but I guess others can choose DA related stuff too.

Interesting but that figure looks more like a dog than a Llama, you know I live in Ecuador and I see them sometimes and they always look more tall with thin necks and legs.

Thanks!
They do a bit. But they're a mixture between an actual llama and the DA llamas. The llama badges have short legs and round ears, but I decided that pointy ears like actual llamas would look better, but alas, they look a bit like dogs when completed.

Really? I suck at using wire, it hurts my hands.. people who can do wire sculptures are crazy! XD In a good way of course.

She wouldn't have to get DeviantArt's permission to make and sell llamas.

DeviantArt doesn't own (and didn't create) the species.

I'm just not sure how (or even if) Deviantart could ever copyright the image of a llama wearing sunglasses or a cape...
