History:

Legacy was one of many new designs that enter service after Dominion war. It was designed firstly for deep space exploration but also to be capable warship. It has multi-purpose(mission) capabilities allowing it to quickly be updated for mission in question. Except been explorer, Legacy is also full blooded warship with powerful offensive and defensive capabilities. It armament consist of thirteen Type XII phaser arrays, one rapid fire quantum torpedo turret and four burst fire Quantum-Photon torpedo tubes. Her defenses were among the best, heavy armored Duranium/Tritanium double hull with twelve cm of Ablative armor plus additional two five cm layer on main hull. Powerful shields capable to sustain Borg fire and even species 8472 for short time.

USS Legacy was launched in 2384, follow by Cadence, Protector and Serenity. Serenity would later be equiped with Slipstream and send to Delta quadrant. Protector on the other hand recieve transwarp drive but stays in Federation space.

Although this ship is very popular within its crew because been strong, reliable, it is not expected that it will be built in large numbers as Sovereign, which slowly replacing Excelsiors and other ships from beginning of 24th century. Still a number of this ships would be built(around twenty to thirty) and most of them would be in deep space exploring.
