Description
Another thing I quickly made in Gimp for fun. The silhouette is loosely based on Velociraptor.
Here is what the translation of the stuff written on the picture and what they mean:
- Black: LOL NOPE! A naked Raptor, AVOID IMPERATIVELY if you want to do an accurate Dromaeosaurid
- Red: The bare minimum; Feathers on the body, the tail, the arm, the second digit, but not on the head, the neck, the legs, the pubic zone and
without rectrices, is also preferably avoided
- Orange: It's better; What the community accepts as generally accurate
- Yellow: A nice coat of feathers! Same as the previous one, just with more feathers, it actually depends on tastes
- Green: All fluffy; Even longer feathers, also on the feet
- Lighter blue: It's too much for me; Maybe too much feathers here, for a Velociraptor at least, but it's still accurate according to what we currently now
- Darker blue: YAY! CARNIVAL! The speculation party, should be avoided, but seriously, why not after all?!
Of course, you can mix the features of these... uh... categories(?) to do your Dromie...

As for all of my digital pictures, I used GIMP.

Your translations are almost similar to the ones I did below the French text, this fact gives me more confidence about my abilities in English.
If you want to see what a "YAY! Carnival!" Velociraptor would look like, seek no further!

Yeah, me too I will draw a lot of my Dromies with this kind of plumage, but it depends on the species actually.

Same here, even if I think I will add some more "flashy" features on some of my species.

Velociraptor would probably trip over all those feathers.

I don't think so, not for a 2 meters long predator like Velociraptor, except if it wants that every animal it tries to hunt make fun of it! X)

I think different species and even sub species would look very different and then you add in sexual dimorphism and all most any thing gos. You can even mix in a little black on the under belly.

Me too I think the plumage varied depending to the species or the gender. But a Velociraptor, a predatory Dinosaur that wheighted about 15 kilos, probably needed something less flamboyant to blend in its environment.

Yes and if any raptor had less plumage on the hands it would have been one of them. Tho I do not think I have seen it dun right. I think there would have been longer and shorter feathers on the hands and the whole thing would still have resembled a wing I would put the edge at the Orange. I can imagine it licking those longer feathers into place, Out of the way of it's claws.

On dA it's mostly red or light blue. XD
Btw this blue looks somehow always green to me. That's, why I was surprised today, when someone told me Hatsune Miku has blue hair. And I was like "WTF?! Isn't her hair green?!" Aaaaah... My school days are generally weird...

To be honest, the light blue and the green here seems pretty similar to me too!
But I always knew that Hatsune Miku has blue hair!

I remember the time were dinosaur were naked x3 the first feathered dromeosaurid I've ever saw was in a cheap exhibition and it looked like a chicken with teeth! (a case of eye cancer!)
I think I like the orange or light green version =/

Yeah, the first depiction of feathered Dinosaurs were so laaaaaaaaaaame! I guess is among of the reasons some people don't accept the idea of feathered Dinosaurs!

I must say when the theory came up I was uncomfortable with it too, but now after I saw so many awesome illustration over the years I really love the new look we have for the dinosaurs

Yay! Carnival! I doubt a predator would actually look like that though. Maybe they lived like lions and the males didn't need to hunt so they were fabulous and YAYCARNIVAL and fought off other males instead.

Yeah, me too I doubt it, but for a smaller, non predatory Dinosaur, it could be good.

For me, it's more like orange and yellow, sometimes green, even if it actually depends on the species.
