Thank you
Oh man, it's been so long I can't remember the font I think it had "Old English" in the title, though.

i wish I had too, Done nothing the past three years. Did buy tools and material to start making riveted mail, but that takes about 2 minutes per ring, looks awesome though: [link]
good luck with your tutorials, after reading kusaris site [link] i understand it takes a lot of time to render.

Holy crap I don't think I'll ever do riveted, I'm patient and work with some insanely small sizes sometimes, but that's where I draw the line
Renders can take a while, but luckily the rings I used here were pretty simple so it didn't take me too long

Slow indeed, but riviting strengthens each ring by a huge amount, making it well worth it in the end.
That is... if you were using it against real, sharpened metal weapons...
Okay so in reality it's not all that useful. But still, it's authentic, not to mention awesome.

I've always wanted to make some mail for myself, Where do you purchase the rings?

zikes In reply to Sherio88 [2006-10-08 13:12:26 +0000 UTC]
I actually make the rings from scratch, myself, but I do know of a couple of suppliers that much of the online community buys from. DCWireworks.com and TheRingLord.com are pretty popular sellers

zikes In reply to Cherry-Kun [2006-10-08 13:13:29 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! I used Bryce 5 to render the rings, then pieced them together into this final image and added text in Fireworks MX. I'm afraid I won't be offering any tutorials on animating anything like this, though

it's two european 4-1 weaves weaved into themselves using two different ringsizes . look close and you'll figure it out.

It's actually a set of instructions for creating the thing with real rings. An example of which can be found here: [link]

I need to play around with some 3D programs more often and make more tutorials like this. Lots more chainmaille weaves to cover

Oh yes do it! You are so talented. I had a great time browsing your gallery. So many incredible things! The tutorial is really awesome. Clear step by step explanation, nice lettering, beautiful graphic images.
Is all what a good tutorial must be. Congratulations! I'll be looking forward for the next one
Fabulous 3D work!

Oh wow, thank you!
I used Bryce to make that tutorial but don't have it anymore. I've heard of a few free 3D programs that I might be able to use instead, but it'll probably be a while before I can learn one and make another maille tutorial D:

You know I use a 3d program that is quite interesting Zbrush [link]
Is very intuitive and you can make great tutorials using the build in tools.
I quite enjoy this program, is almost like sculpturing.
Anyways the things that call more my attention on that tutorial was not what the Bryce can do, but the way you use it
Keep them coming!

One of the best tutorials I have seen, nice job!
I only just heard about dragonscale weave and have been looking around quite a bit.
Personally, I make actual armor pieces with the weaves. I have a european 4 in 1 shirt that I want to complement
with a dragonscale mantle in brass and steel.
Good Stuff!
