Prologue: The Selection - Prologue page 1
- Kailani is just one of many young royals placed into an event known infamously as 'The Selection': an unorthodox program organized by the Great Elders in which young royal children were selected to partake in a nation-wide arranged marriage event in order to protect and improve the Royal bloodline. While accepting her fate, the young woman, and her adopted siblings, are in the dark to the details of their future partners.
The mystery is only heightened when rumors tell Kailani's mate is nothing short of a monster.
Finally. Been thinking up a decent design for this cover for ages now and only now came up with one. Which... is why this is late. The other covers will come out before I start the chapters. Heh.
I'm rather proud of how this came out, though I'll definitely go back and tidy up some bits whenever I find them.
Evil silhouette of d00m inspired by page 16.
I'm still unsure whether or not I like the placement of the titles and such. I personally think they're fine, but I'm just not certain. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I agree with the one person. It looks a lot like Feddy is wearing elf shoes...and that's a little weird. Not nearly as weird as the idea of him being pink (which that creepy theory I still haven't completely abandoned) , BUT STILL.
'Sides that, everything looks good in my opinion. :3 I love this more than I can explain. It's really cool looking.
Have I ever told you that I freaking love Kailani's hair?

Drat, I looked through the prequel set to see if there were a way that you could have drawn his tails, but what I had in mind wouldn't quite work here.
Now if he wore a long coat with a split back...
I see there are differences between the silhouette, and the shadow it casts, looking at your description this is representative of Kailani's anxieties?
(The shadow loses the curly toes and gets a set of antlers?)
The changes are subtle...
The only suggestion I might have is make the silhouette as terrible as possible. This is the story Kailani has been led to believe, and what will seem apparent initially. But make the shadow more in tune with "reality". The truth will not be always distinct.

Mmhmm, exactly for the most part.
I attempted at doing the shadows of the shirt tails as well, but I can't seem to get them to look right. They make him look a bit silly almost. So I'm trying to figure out how I can add those in some how.
And yes, antlers and his spikes are more... pointy.
But I know what you're trying to suggest. Hmm... I'll have to experiment on that! Thanks!

Oh, one other thing, maybe, glowing eyes, again part of the rumor, or can be also added to keep us guessing as to Federico's true personality, he still is an unknown to us at this point. Keeping the readers guessing is always fun!

Oh, that'd be fitting! Would the eyes look better on his actual silhouette or on the shadow, ya think? I actually had some eyes on his shadow originally

Hmmm, they would really stick out on the silhouette, you could make them death-ray red for even more dramatic effect! =^^=
On the shadow, they could be a different color: White: neutral / intelligent? Green: sinister / life? Blue: Cold / calculating? (Not sure I'm matching the colors with moods correctly, just some suggestions, but it can also go with what just looks cool too! =^^= Heh, I'm an engineer by training, so I sometimes over-analyze! )

First, let me say I love the amount of detail you put into Kailani's close-up.
Now the crit of DOOM! Personally, I think you did a fine job with the title placement. It's a toughy, I know. Any other placement I could think of wouldn't be as good, even if I adjusted the size. I thought about shrinking the text just a bit and moving it to the left or having it vertical on the left side (as not to interfere with Kai's antennae), but that would probably look like crap.
So, good job! Can't wait for the next page!

Ya know, I was actually pondering on putting it on the side. Kind of like some Mangas do . But I dunno. I always got confused when I read that a certain comic artist here on dA said titles for comics should always be on the bottom. But when looking up real professional comics the title is almost always on the top. Haha.
But yes, decisions, decisions...
