Description
LARGE FILE PLEASE DOWNLOAD.PLEASE NOTE THIS IS KIND OF AN OLD TUTORIAL. MY METHODS ARE DIFFERENT NOW IN SOME ASPECTS.
Okay.. first off I'd like to really thank everybody who gave feedback on what they wanted in this tutorial. hence why whats in it is kinda random. This tutorial covers the basics of how to shade certain things using paint tool SAI.
Wow this took ages... i've been pretty busy so i did this over the course over a few days so i hope it all makes sense please forgive any typos :/

It's nice to see how others color!!
can I please ask something ? I'm still confused how that 'transparent color' button works? do you have or know a tutorial about it?
In my years with sai I never learned XD

Annabel-m In reply to TsumiStash [2014-03-19 01:09:35 +0000 UTC]
uhhh haha to be honest i just came across the button at random sometime after getting sai, so i dont really know if there are any proper tutorials about it.
But lets see what i can quickly come up with....
the transparent colour button works sorta like an eraser... it literally paints a transparent colour. I use it mainly for blending. ummmm in the tutorial - transparent fabric - on the fourth picture youll see how i shaded the skirt? all i did was paint thick strokes of dark blue using the watercolour tool, then i clicked the transparent colour button and i painted over the shaded strokes to give the illusion of folding. i show another example of it in the beginning of the tut (the brown fabric under examples)
uhhh dunno if that makes much sense but if you still need some help just ask

No, thank you! and yes. I love tutorials like these where it just explains and doesn't have a bunch of different tools thrown in your face that takes forever to download on your computer. x_x
