Description I know because of my learnings.

Actually I just work at a greyhound rescue but WHATEVER I'll kick this back to scraps in a couple of days. It's obviously just a pretty quick thing I doodled up tonight after my shift.

Actually I take that back, I don't think there is any chihuahua in italian greyhounds.

If I were to seriously get one I'd do plenty of research. xD I didn't think it sounded realistic that they were selectively bred chihuahua's, but it is believable that they used some chihuahua's to help create the breed. But ya I dunno. From what I read about them myself they don't seem too far off the reservation from regular greyhounds, as far as temperament and personality go.

Every single bit of this is so true. My ma works rescue groups and has gone through so many fosters over the last decade. You should also add that IT IS NOT TRUE THAT GREYHOUNDS ARE QUIET.

They love to bark at EVERY SQUIRRELS and EVERY RABBITS.

MeiTow In reply to ikariakiko [2011-03-27 04:32:36 +0000 UTC]

I think it depends on the greyhound. I've had my grey for a year now and he's barked 3 times (while awake, anyway) the entire time we've had him and all three were in extreme excitement. He barks and woofs more in his sleep than he does awake. He's a bit of a whiner though, so there's some noise out of him. LOL!

I have a greyhound, and you've pretty much described it like any owner would. I heard myself going, "Oh so true" throughout. Great reference too, ta very much!

We've had a zero to batshit moment once - one second he was in mid-pee, next second he was halfway across the field after a rabbit.

This is fantastic and so spot on. I adopted mine from the humane society and the whole time I'm looking at her, everyone kept gushing about how soft she was, particularly the ears. I scoffed at the idea, considering there isn't much fur on them at all. But my goodness, I constantly find myself toying with her ears. Lovely ref!

Yessiree! My husband gets tailwhipped every morning by an excited dog wanting to out for his morning constitutional! In fact, one of our cats, swipes at it every time it comes near her because she's intrigued (as cats tend to be) by long, string-like, moving things. LOL!

I have two greyhounds and out of all of the different types of dogs I have had over my life greys are the easiest and sweetest. The hard part is they can NEVER, EVER be off the leash or allowed to roam free. Other than that, they are the best dogs.

Your Anatomy of a Greyhound is the terrific! Thank you so much.

Always wanted one of these fellows. They're so lanky and beautiful all in the same package. And after actually spending some time with a few at the local dog park, I'm finding I'm more and more enjoying their personalities (or at least of the ones I've met, lol).

Its too bad my boyfriend only wants two dogs in our place.

If it helps convince him, greyhounds are really easy to please and take care of. Though they're big, they only require a walk every day, not HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS of playtime like my border collie x_x They mostly just couch potato all day.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gothmylittlepony In reply to aureath [2010-02-07 18:42:04 +0000 UTC]

Lol. I'd kill for a couch potato!! We've got a Siberian Husky and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and they're both insane and brimming with energy at all hours of the day!! Even after hours of walks and romps in the park!! Hehe, I'll have to mention it to him, he may be convinced yet!! Or at least I'll know what my next breed will be, and who to contact about perhaps adopting one~ :3

twice a day 10 minutes in the garden, if you have 2 they excersese themselves, and for the rest, give them a soft place to lie down, and they snooze, only be prepared to having them in the sofa, because they love being close to their humans

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MeiTow In reply to MarjanVh [2011-03-27 04:17:14 +0000 UTC]

Yep! I walk mine 2x a day for a half hour (basically, 4 blocks up, 1 block over, 4 blocks back down, and 1 block over to the house again). There's a few special needs that they have (like not being able to hand pesticides and anesthesia as well as other dogs) but they are BY FAR the laziest dogs I have ever seen! Literally...if he's not walking, or needing a pee, he's sleeping or wanting petted. They hardly ever bark (for the most part, there are a few that do), and actually make great apartment dogs because of the low energy. Wonderful dogs. I will probably never be without one again. LOL!
